"An Honest (Non-Developer) Opinion"
Version: Tototl 1.5.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I'm not the developer of this app, so I thought an honest opinion would be a breath of fresh air here.
As a whole, this app is very good as Twitter clients go. The developer has a posted wishlist, which I'd like to see implemented (like posting to TwitPic), but for a bare-bones Twitter client, this works better for me than Twitterrific.
A couple of quibbles about the UI: I'd like to see something nicer than the current "T" in the menubar, coupled with the ability to see if twits have arrived while I wasn't at the keyboard - Twitteriffic has an excellent idea with their bird that changes from black to color when twits arrive with the app running in the background. Also, playing nicer with Growl, and letting the user specify what kind of notification, instead of just blindly grabbing whatever is set as Growl's default would be nice. The input field should automatically select when you click on the menu item, instead of having to click on the menu item and then on the input field before typing. Finally, a font size selector for the various display styles - the HUD font size is almost too small.
In all, still a bit rough around the edges, but if you stay away from those edges, the overall effect is a nice app that needs a bit more polishing. -
