Version: TomaWeb Image Mapper 1.0
Pros: TomaWeb Image Mapper may not be poised to take the image mapping software world by storm, but it gets the job done easily enough. Contrary to some of the other reviewers' comments, this program is not adware and will not damage your computer.
Cons: Fairly unattractive interface... takes few moments to fully grasp use of the tools. Auto-HTML generator also doesn't include opening {map} tag, so webmasters will want to include it manually.

"This simple tool does one job, and does it well"
Pros: Image Mapper exists to do exactly one thing: produce the "coords" attribute of an "area" element. If you don't know what this means, you don't need this tool. If you do know what this means, and don't want to spring for a full-featured web image optimizer, this'll do the job just fine.
Anyone savvy enough with html to need this tool will find the interface simple and easy. Basically, you open an image (jpeg or gif only), and click on it to define a shape. Then you click on the arrow button to give the shape a name, and Image Mapper generates its area element. Hit another button and it produces a well-formed html snippet of the src element and the map element, with no deprecated attributes or elements to edit out. That's what it does; that's all it does.
One thing I particularly like is that it does not require you to actually place the image in the location given by the src element. After all, this is a tool for creating page content that does not yet exist!
Cons: Once you define a polygon you cannot edit it. You can, however, delete it with a single keystroke, and then redefine it. No big deal.
There's a bigger problem with the html snippet it generates. While it is clean and lowercased, it does not allow for alt attributes, and it does not give you a chance to specify xhtml rather than html. This means that the snippet will not validate in xhtml unless you manually insert a space-slash at the end of each and every area tag. As these important features would have been easy to program in, Image Mapper looses a star for their omission.
