Publisher's description of TheClock

From theSoftware:

theClock is a digital clock that can be configured to take up minimal real-estate on your desktop by hiding the menu and title bar. Date and time are fully configurable. Set the background color and set your favorite font. Save up to 16 different window configurations. Add theClock to the system tray to free up desktop real estate. Remove theClock's icon from the task bar to free up task bar real estate. Make theClock the top most application so you can see the clock while working in other applications. Keyboard controls to move and size theClock and theClock's display data. An alarm clock that can save up to 25 alarm settings, can display a message, and/or play a sound you select, and/or launch a file, open a directory, or launch an application that you select. A Chime where you can play a sound you select to chime on the hour, the quarter hour, the half hour, the last quarter hour, and every specified minute. A simple Calendar is included.

Version 2004.12.01 adds a checkbox to the Options dialog where the Splash Screen upon application launch can be turned on or off. Also adds the Settings and Options menu items to the System Tray menu.

  • Version reviewed: TheClock 2004.12.01
This customizable alarm clock is loaded with options that are more difficult to activate than we'd like. TheClock appears as a small window that displays the current time (including seconds) and the date. Through its simple interface, you can set an alarm, a chime, and configure the clock. The alarm options are plentiful: select a WAV file to play, input a message for display, and/or launch an application or file. You also can configure a chime to run at selected time intervals. With the skinnable clock, you can select a time zone and determine the taskbar display. Unfortunately, in our tests, we stumbled around a bit before figuring out how to activate the alarms and chimes. We also wish we could set multiple alarms and chimes. Despite its flaws, anyone who wants a more robust alternative to your computer's desktop clock will appreciate TheClock.
