This ticker tool scrolls the text of a selected file on your desktop, but it only supports TXT files. Text Ticker's tape starts of at the top of your screen, but you can drag it to rest wherever you'd like. After launching the program, simply drag and drop your file onto the tape and its text instantly appears.

You can run several instances of Text Ticker, and each can be easily customized with a different font, color, and background to perk up the lifeless interface. Although the program doesn't feature any samples, a WAV file on your PC can be played each time a file change is made. We found this odd, considering that the program doesn't allow automatic file changes.

Text Ticker scrolls text horizontally or vertically with your choice of speed. If you don't want the entire file to scroll, you can set the program to scroll the first or last lines or a specified number of lines. Unfortunately, unlike similar apps that gather and display news feeds, this program only recognizes files in the TXT file format. Users looking to display PC text may like it, but others will quickly discover it lacks versatility.

Publisher's description

From Slashback Associates :

Text Ticker scrolls the contents of a text file at the top or bottom of the screen, or floating anywhere on the desktop. The text appears in a so-called appbar which is similar the Windows Taskbar. All settings- font, color, text file. Are saved between sessions. Any text file can be dropped on the ticker and the program will begin to scroll that file's contents. Multiple tickers can be run, each with its own file, speed, colors.

Each one acts independently. When you later start Text Ticker, the first one's settings will be used; if you start a second one, the second one's settings will be used. Options include control over how it looks visually, horizontal or vertical scrolling, scrolling speed, image file used for a logo on either edge of the ticker, timed file reload if the file has changed, show/hide ticker depending on the file status, play a sound when the file is reloaded.
