Syslogd is an implementation of the UNIX program by the same name for the Mac OS. For those that don't know syslogd (the UNIX name is all lowercase) is a daemon (background application in Mac terminology) that accepts messages from other applications and the network, and writes them out to system wide log files. Using these log files, the system administrator can see the "state" of the system at any point in time since the system was booted. Syslogd also supports AppleScript and AppleShare IP 6.x.
What's new in this version:
- Made some corrections in Syslogd's help documentation.
- Fixed a bug in Syslogd that could cause some of the default log definitions to be read even though the preferences were supposed to override the defaults.
- Fixed some minor memory bugs in Syslogd.
- Fixed quite a few memory related bugs in Syslogd Admin.
- The Timbuktu conflict seems to have been resolved.
