For all the youngsters whose musical itch just isn't scratched by playing the recorder, here's a program to satisfy their inner producers. Super Duper Music Looper XPress, a simple, loop-based editor, makes creating music fun and easy.Compared to other music editors packed to the gills with tools, Super Duper Music Looper has only two: a paintbrush and an eraser. Paint where you want music, erase where you don't. The interface is laid out with nine individual tracks, each representing a specific sound such as guitar, voice, or bass. If you pick up the tempo or change the key, the loops automatically stay in time, making it easy to experiment. Sharing your songs is a snap using the Email Song option, which exports your jam to a compressed WMA file and adds it as an attachment in a new e-mail.
The free version has some severe limitations. Saving, adding new loops, and recording are disabled. However, these features are available in the $30 standard edition, which also includes a vast library of new loops and crazy effects. Kids will have a blast playing with the free version, but the limited sound choices make the action get old quickly.

"Good for a demonstration only"
Pros: Simple controls. Intuitive. Nice pre-recorded instrument sounds.
Cons: A bit jerky in the playback. Must pay for any new pre-recorded music. It is unclear what the selection of those would be like. But, it's likely to nickel and dime you to death regardless. Plus, no sign of any ability to make your own track loops.
Summary: Too limiting to be useful for anything but making a single demonstration song. Having to purchase individual sounds would make it far too costly to make even a simple selection of music sequences.
