Found this software when searching for a tool that would clean up a friend's malware problem. Downloaded, installed, scanned FOR FOURTEEN HOURS and found two traces of malware. But to clean it, StopZilla DEMANDED PAYMENT FIRST. This was not indicated at any time prior to installing the software. To make it worse, the cost was $40 - it hadn't even proved itself first.
Summary
For not making it clear that this was at least demo-ware, and allowing a full scan to complete before making the terms by which any infections would be cleaned, I call this DECEPTIVEWARE of the worst kind.

They have billed me again after I cancelled this stupid product. When I call them I get someone who cant understand my email address. Then they just keep telling me that they will send me that refund. Still nothing. Skip this product. I originally cancelled it because I got repeated viruses and it did nothing to cure the.

Well, it worked for me. I don't know why people are saying it's a virus itself but i have another anti-virus just in-case this 1 starts being naughty.

Not enough space to list the ways this program nuked my sister's computer. Just leave this one alone and remove it immediately if you see it.

My sister called me about this program. When I got to her house, the firstt thing I heard was that stupid roar. And then it started scanning without warning and returned at least 8000 different false positives. After some research, I fired up rkill and scanned with MalwareBytes, and that couldn't remove the sticky little bugger. I unfortunately missed the part that said attempting to uninstall would freeze the computer. Next time my sister turned it on, Windows wouldn't boot. So screw you, Stopzilla, and the infernal masters behind your "cute" dragon exterior.

Summary
Having been in the industry for 18 years and owning an I.T. company for 10 years, I'm very picky with the tools I use on client computers. I found StopZilla utility on a laptop I was replacing the screen on. I scan and update for free as part of our services.
I tried StopZilla out and it found dozens of rootkits, virus infections, malware and spyware. Not an uncommon site in my shop.
I skipped the cleaning and quarantining of the found items to test it against my tools of choice.
In this test I used Malware Bytes and SUPERAntiSpyware, Avast, Clamwin, GMER, Sophos Anti-Rootkit. I ran each one, skipping the cleaning process for testing.
Malware Bytes and SuperAniSpyware found the same with 6 instances of "MyWebSearch" adware. SuperAniSpyware also found some cookies.
None of the others found anything and I was not surprised since adware isn't a virus or a root kit.
I used Rkill and it found no malicious services to stop before using CCleaner and ATF Cleaner. I used Malware Byte's (my #1 goto) to clean up the adware, and followed it up with ComboFix which found nothing. I once again ran Malware Bytes and found nothing.
Since this is a home user, I left the computer with Avast Free, Malware Bytes Free and CCleaner. I will instruct the user on all the tools as well as safe internet habits.
My conclusion: In my test, Stopzilla falsely claimed to have found malware and was inconsistent in its findings when compared to my time tested tools.
I'll stick to my tools and uninstall StopZilla next time I see it. -

Well..I installed it on a very infected OS to test its cleaning capabilities. It was able to detect about 89% of the malware
But what suprised me the most was that it found things that I didnt infect the OS with.I tought it was kind of strange..so I did a new test and got the same result.Then I did a test on a clean OS and it still found same infections.
I checked the clean OS with other Security tools and they didnt found anything. So I really wonder..how the hell can Stopzilla find infections on a clean PC?Summary
Beacuse of the strange results..I do not recommend this app..

Trying to uninstall will get error.
