It proves it can find damaged drives and lost files, but the demo version won't let you save found files. With its file trees and simple button interface, it takes only a few minutes to understand how to operate Stellar Phoenix NTFS Data Recovery. The Help file is clear, concise, and easily understood.
It doesn't take long to get a list of recoverable files with this application. The program uses three drive scans: quick, but not thorough, complete, but not fast, and Drive Image File. The last recreates a specified region of a drive sector by sector. The image is then used to scan and recover files, which saves wear-and-tear on the damaged drive. Our testers found the quick scan very true its name. A 200GB drive was scanned in just a few moments. It lists found files in a second window. A tool to find a file by extension was helpful, but the comprehensive File Mask option is much more useful and accurate.
The demo disables the save function, so it's a leap of faith to trust if this program can accurately restore a file. If you just have a single file you need to recover, we suggest you look for a freeware alternative. We can recommend Stellar Phoenix NTFS Data Recovery for its speed, but we can't make any promises about its recovery potential.

Summary
Bought this product because it was bundled with SMART (HD health Monitor normally $49) for "free". Data Recovery worked ok but SMART did not and will never run under WIN7. Company response was free means free so too bad for me. I maintain that $49 of value at time of purchase can not become free at time of delivery. I requested a rebate or a WINN7 compatable product. After multiplw email exchanges to no avail, I contested the bill with my credit card company and won.

Tech support not helpful. Level 2 support more helpful, but only avail 9-5 Indian time. Program not working. Demanded refund, they suggested creating bootable HD,installing into computer, booting off this. When I told them this seems unreasonable, I called my own tech support. They demanded invoice for refund. Still stalling. Buyer beware.
