Version: Spiceworks IT Desktop 1.1
"Didn't work at all. Avast antivirus picked up 2 trojans on installation"
Pros: umm didn't work so I can't give any pros.
Cons: Contains a couple of trojans. See copy of my log file below. Avoid this software. They could be harmless but the fact that it picked it up is enough for me to can it.

Version: Spiceworks IT Desktop 1.1
"Better than most $1000 products I've used"
Pros: Spiceworks is a great product. If you've used TrackIT, any of the open source inventory systems or even small business ticketing systems like Heat, you'll love Spiceworks.
Does full inventory scanning (without an agent), reporting, trouble shooting and more. It has a basic version of a ticketing system in the 1.1 release, but the preview for 1.5 shows it to have full fledged tickets with email and portal abilities.
For a free product, they've got a A+++++ support team. I had some questions regarding how to setup WMI correctly for finding some machines and they were great. (thanks Harold).
And to top it off, it's free. Works great and it's free, I'm sold!
Cons: Using WMI and SSH is great since it doesn't require an agent to get the information, but at the same time, there are instances where having an agent might be nice.

"Try very carefully (if you brave enough)"
Pros: It looks very friendly, and that's about all.
Cons: Software with backdoors is always slightly suspicious. More, I don't like somebody looking through my network to tell me what there is (it's my own business and privacy).
