From Michel Kramer :Spamihilator works between your e-mail client and the Internet and examines every incoming e-mail. Useless spam mails (junk) will be filtered out. This process runs completely in the background. The new learning filter (Bayesian filter) uses the rules of Thomas Bayes (English mathematician, 18th century) and calculates a certain spam-probability for every e-mail. You can train this filter. So it will know your messages even better than you. Hence the recognition rate will continuously increase. Version 0.9.9.1 may include unspecified enhancements, improvements, and bug fixes.

"Best of breed for this kind of anti-spam program"
Pros: It's very configurable, many plug-ins are available, the Bayesian filter is superb and learns fast, it's easy to review and manage spam/nonspam, and it's easy to add words to filter, entries to white/black lists, and you can arrange the order of the filters, etc. It also works with SSL secure mail transfer, and you can cross-protocol IMAP to POP and use a simple client to check IMAP mail. The forums are in both German and English, and are quite active, with the developers monitoring them regularly. All this in a free program! After you've used it awhile and set it to suit your habits, it becomes nearly invisible and you only need to check the spam area occasionally to be sure a friend didn't end up there. Though some would say if he did, he should probably stay there because of what he sent you.
Cons: It's capabilities also bring complexity. It may require a work to set it up for some systems if the auto-configuration utility doesn't work for your system. (There is plenty of documentation for this, however.) Also, it's not integrated into your email client, but runs in the background as a separate program, intercepting incoming mail. This makes it compatible with most clients, but again, not really part of your client.

Cons: Having spent time marking each spam as spam and non spam as non spam, and months down the line still finding spam marked as non spam and non spam marked as spam, I decided that it was easier to just delete stuff from my email client. So I uninstalled Spamihilator. Easy yeah? No. Now I couldn't get mail, tried everything, still no connection. So I had to reinstall Spamihilator. Got fed up with it again, same thing happened. Contacted the author, who seemed to think it unusual that anyone should want to want to uninstall his software, was no help, and just referred me to another download which would return my email client to working order; it didn't. I still can't get email, this program has permanently prevented it, and only works if I reinstall. Major bug, never had this problem before when uninstalling something. For a non programmer this is a serious problem and people should be warned that ok if they want to stick with it, but just don't uninstall.

"Puts all spam plus other sin "delete bin""
Pros: recognises Spam
Cons: also puts wanted mail in delete bin. Have to always look for any that is missing

Pros: I think this could be a useful program but it just didn't work for me (Windows ME)
Cons: Don't know if it didn't download properly but found I couldn't retrieve email from the recycle bin. A list of deleted mail is supposed to come up but in my case it didn't. Couldn't find any instructions on how to deal with problems. I'm a fairly competent computer user but couldn't get to grips with this at all. Also, the download speed is very slow and the website doesn't give enough information about the product. After a bit of trial and error and losing several emails I uninstalled. Potentially good but not there yet.
