Solitaire XL is the Mac version of the built-in Windows application that lets you play card games on your computer. It might seem simplistic when compared with other games, but we found it very easy to use, and the app takes up very little space.
Solitaire XL has a very simple but well-designed interface with a few customization options to adjust the size of the cards and the background. It has a built-in Help file that will guide you through the app, but most will be able to skip this and start playing right away. We didn't find any groundbreaking features but the app will display your highest scores so you can see if you're getting any better. There isn't more on offer here, but this simple app is free and takes just a few megabytes of your computer storage space.
Overall, Solitaire XL looks good and works well, but it isn't something you'd play over and over again unless you didn't have any other games to play. Still, if you really love solitaire or just need something to distract you for a bit, this app is free and easy to use.

"My favorite Solitaire Game"

Pros
Graphics are well done. It is a simple game in real life and is the same in this software. There are no unnecessary sounds, music, etc. to distract one from playing the game. Personally, I have a good smooth jazz station playing in the background on my iTunes.
Cons
What is the purpose of this The "requested URL /gbm1.1.8.html was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.15 (Fedora) Server at lavacat.com Port 80" ??? And the "Visit lavacat.com button take you to a website with one word, "test". Why? And, though I do not track my scores, my previous version (Version 1.1.7 (1.1.8 Copyright 2005 Lavacat Software) kept one's highest scores and displayed them in a data window. So players that wish to keep track would probably like this feature.Summary
All in all, a great game with great graphics and fun to play.

Large size, choice of solid background, attractive graphics, good preferences. All good.
Cons
Suddenly can't use it (v1.1.8 on MacBook Pro). Weird fragmented images are showing like multiple tiny superimposed windows in a tall column. Card dealing is totally broken. The lavacat website link is broken and I'm getting my emails returned from support@lavacat.com. I hope this doesn't mean lavacat no longer exists.
Summary
Devastating to find that my favourite game is now useless. Hope I find out how to get it back. Google searches haven't come up with anything similar to what I'm experiencing.

Dull and boring! There have been no improvements or upgrades to this game now for many months/years.
Cannot seem to be able to get in touch with Lavacat Customer Service.
No links at all to Lavacat website, which leads me to conclude that Lavacat no longer exists!
There are better Solitaire games out there that are free or not too expensive if having to pay, therefore I will now be ditching Lavacat Solitaire off my system and moving on to a more modern and up to date Solitaire game for Mac! -

The pros for me ... a simple straightforward game. Clean lines. Small file space. Quick to download. It saved as its own file/program, didn't have to choose an application to open it. Easy for having short bursts of time out. Working very well.

Can't think of any except that it could be a longer game.
Summary
Tried many links before i found this one. Should be top of the list. Many links say they are for Mac but aren't. I wanted just the one game and this is it. Versions for all Mac OS should appear on the same page. I thought i had seen it but can't find it again.Have had to google again to find that CNET has a version solitaire for 10.3.9. I have 2 computers , one 10.3.9 and 10.4 and would like the game on both.
