This powerhouse FTP client takes some getting used to, but you'll be glad you did. Don't be alarmed by the cramped, multipane Windows Explorer-like interface. You can customize the toolbars and windowpanes however you like. With the Local Browser window visible, SmartFTP supports drag-and-drop transfers like those on basic FTP clients. But its real power lies deeper within its option menus, where you'll find CHMOD remote file-attribute modification, background file transfers, multiple FTP connections, passive-mode transfers, site-to-site transfers (FXP), and connections via proxy or SSL. Using the Global Queue window, you even can schedule downloads or uploads to more than one server. SmartFTP may overwhelm beginners, but it's a natural for intermediates on up. It's also free for personal use and an incredible bargain. Watch the CNET video review of SmartFTP Client:
Publisher's description
From SmartSoft :SmartFTP allows you to transfer files across the Internet. It features an Explorer-like, customizable interface and supports drag-and-drop functions. Multiple FTP connections can be opened at the same time, and you can copy files from one remote host to another (FXP). Remote-host directory information is cached for future viewing, and FTP URLs are supported. Other features include a Favorites list; the ability to resume broken downloads; a global history; background transfers; proxy support; a passive transfer mode; and the ability to perform recursive downloads, uploads, and deletes. Version 2.0.996.29 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
Note: This program is free for private, non-commercial use only.

Version: SmartFTP Client 2.0.996.29
"Better than many expensive products"
Pros: This has better features than many expensive products it is free and it looks awesome. I like this lprogram very much now I use: FileZilla FireFTP and SmartFTP not to mention a couple of my text editors double as good FtP clients. Well thats web development. I hope you are in the process of downloading this you will never get a better deal!
Cons: The interface may be slightly confusing to people who have a hard time making FTP conections. All you need is the new connection and new system browser buttons. The help is faily extensive and will help you.
All in all best FTP client ever

Version: SmartFTP Client 2.0.996.29
Pros: Even though I hadn't used all that many FTP clients before, I did try a couple of them. And so I can say, with a clear conscience, that SmartFTP is indeed a very good client for the needs of most users.
I think the best thing about this client is that it's very straight-forward to log into your FTP account and start uploading/downloading right away, with no hassle.
The interface is nice-looking, but admittedly rather unnecessarily cluttered.
All in all, a very good FTP client. I can't say it's the best around, but that's only because I haven't tried them all yet :-).
Cons: - A somewhat cluttered interface.
- Gets stuck occasionally at uploading.
