This powerhouse FTP client takes some getting used to, but you'll be glad you did. Don't be alarmed by the cramped, multipane Windows Explorer-like interface. You can customize the toolbars and windowpanes however you like. With the Local Browser window visible, SmartFTP supports drag-and-drop transfers like those on basic FTP clients. But its real power lies deeper within its option menus, where you'll find CHMOD remote file-attribute modification, background file transfers, multiple FTP connections, passive-mode transfers, site-to-site transfers (FXP), and connections via proxy or SSL. Using the Global Queue window, you even can schedule downloads or uploads to more than one server. SmartFTP may overwhelm beginners, but it's a natural for intermediates on up. From SmartSoft :SmartFTP allows you to transfer files across the Internet. It features an Explorer-like, customizable interface and supports drag-and-drop functions. Multiple FTP connections can be opened at the same time, and you can copy files from one remote host to another (FXP). Remote-host directory information is cached for future viewing, and FTP URLs are supported. Other features include a Favorites list; the ability to resume broken downloads; a global history; background transfers; proxy support; a passive transfer mode; and the ability to perform recursive downloads, uploads, and deletes. Version 2.0.995.19 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"For a free software, its simply Excellent! The Upload speed is quite fast."
Pros: The ability to drag and drop files to remote sites is wonderful. The upload speed is extremely fast and the software has the ability to manage several simultaenous connections. I recommend it!

"Great Free Fully Working Product"
Pros: The basic functions are easily found and used. It is quick to load and absolutely stable. Never had any problems uploading so I don't know what a previous poster was complaining about.

Pros: Easy to use and fast. This is the best free FTP client I ever seen!
Just take look at the program features: Windows/IE Explorer like User Interface, XP Theme Support, SSL/TLS (128bit), Unicode/UTF8/MBCS Support, IPv6, Full Drag & Drop Within internal windows, from/to Windows Explorer, Multi Remote Connections, Full FXP Support, Transfer Queue (Local->Local, Local<->Remote, Remote<->Remote), Network installation friendly, Bands Support, Docking and floating Bands ("Local Folder"), Favorites as used in IE, Custom Toolbars, Global History, Recursive Downloads & Uploads, Resume for broken Transfers (down/up/fxp), Background Transfers, Proxy support Wingate, Winproxy, CSM, MS Proxy; SOCKS4a/5, SITE, OPEN, PASV Mode; HTTP Proxy), FTP URL Support, URL Watcher, Cache Remote Directories, Transfer Speed Limit, Optimized TYPE commands, Network Neighborhood support, Custom Commands, easy CHMOD like Properties in Windows Explorer.
Cons: None, this is the best best free FTP client available today.

For the private personal user... you cannot get any better.
For commercial user... This one is worth the money.
Lost? Go to the website and they will show you how to get the things done that you may be having trouble with or if you just want to learn some new tricks to an old task.
I am not easily impressed....

"Ease of use makes Smart FTP my first choise for an FTP client"
Pros: This easy to use product is very well designed, with free none commerical lience makes it the best FREE FTP program out there.
Cons: Not many bad points to this software, except that after the evalution period you have to keep acknowledging the use is for none commerical. Would think that if you state once and agree to this fact this reminder screen could be done away with.
