This powerhouse FTP client takes some getting used to, but you'll be glad you did. Don't be alarmed by the cramped, multipane Windows Explorer-like interface. You can customize the toolbars and windowpanes however you like. With the Local Browser window visible, SmartFTP supports drag-and-drop transfers like those on basic FTP clients. But its real power lies deeper within its option menus, where you'll find CHMOD remote file-attribute modification, background file transfers, multiple FTP connections, passive-mode transfers, site-to-site transfers (FXP), and connections via proxy or SSL. Using the Global Queue window, you even can schedule downloads or uploads to more than one server. SmartFTP may overwhelm beginners, but it's a natural for intermediates on up. SmartFTP allows you to transfer files across the Internet. It features an Explorer-like, customizable interface and supports drag-and-drop functions. Multiple FTP connections can be opened at the same time, and you can copy files from one remote host to another (FXP). Remote-host directory information is cached for future viewing, and FTP URLs are supported. Other features include a Favorites list; the ability to resume broken downloads; a global history; background transfers; proxy support; a passive transfer mode; and the ability to perform recursive downloads, uploads, and deletes. Version 2.0.999.16 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"fantastic program"

Pros
For nearly 4 months now I have used SmartFTP without any glitches or problems. It's easy to learn and easy to use. I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a good FTP program. The Windows Explorer-like interface makes it less intimidating for users who are new to the realm of FTP uploading or are generally afraid of the deeper realm of computer usage.
Cons
The interface, because of its similarity to Windows, ticks me off sometimes but only for minor things like automatically making the file name column too small to read anything. But that's all I can think of.

"Multiple simultaneous uploads/downloads with transfer queue"

Pros
Uploading many small files to a distant server with high latency is extremely painful using FTP... unless you happen to be able to have a bunch running simultaneously! The transfer queue allows this, as well as having connections to multiple servers at the same time.
Cons
Having said that, the transfer queue is a little fiddly to use - it would be great if dragging stuff from source to destination would automatically go via the queue.

It's a nice layout got good features and after trial ends all that happens is a 'reg. me now' box appears on startup of prog. (so what)

"One simple, visual interface to transfer multiple files"

Pros
This is a great, visually appealing, easy to use, drag-and-drop, FTP utility. Sessions are easy to initiate, window settings can be set and saved, and it is very intuitive. Doesn't take a programmer mentality to figure out how to use or configure it.
Cons
None encountered yet. Just be sure to download the 32-bit version unless you're running a 64-bit OS.

This ftp is very user friendly- it's easy to tell your way around the program, there are enough windows to show your server and your desktop (it's always annoying when you can't tell what goes where, or what is happening.)I give it an A+
