Publisher's description of SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 2.5.1006.38
From SmartSoft:SmartFTP allows you to transfer files across the Internet. It features an Explorer-like, customizable interface and supports drag-and-drop functions. Multiple FTP connections can be opened at the same time, and you can copy files from one remote host to another (FXP). Remote-host directory information is cached for future viewing, and FTP URLs are supported. Other features include a Favorites list; the ability to resume broken downloads; a global history; background transfers; proxy support; a passive transfer mode; and the ability to perform recursive downloads, uploads, and deletes.
Version 2.5.1006.38 includes unspecified updates.

- Version reviewed: SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 2.5.1006.38
This powerhouse FTP client takes some getting used to, but you'll be glad you gave it a chance. Don't be alarmed by the cramped, multipane Windows Explorer-like interface; you can customize the toolbars and windowpanes however you like.
With the Local Browser window visible, SmartFTP supports drag-and-drop transfers like those on basic FTP clients. But its real power lies deeper within its option menus, where you'll find CHMOD remote file-attribute modification, background file transfers, multiple FTP connections, passive-mode transfers, site-to-site transfers (FXP), and connections via proxy or SSL. Using the Global Queue window, you even can schedule downloads or uploads to more than one server.
SmartFTP may overwhelm beginners, but it's a natural for intermediates and up.

Version: SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 2.5.1006.38
Pros: The overall user experience is good. File caching works well, and it is quite stable. As a freeware, it works great
Cons: I have used it with ftp.DriveHQ.com ftp hosting service, and overall it works pretty well. In comparing with Filezilla and DriveHQ FileManager, they all have advantages and disadvantages. DriveHQ FileManager has more features and generally is faster conencting to ftp.drivehq.com service. FileZilla and SmartFTP has more FTP related features.

Version: SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 2.5.1006.38
Pros: All of the features work nice. No problems, very smart, and very fast.
I love the interface and it is so easy to use. A MUST have for big ftp users.
Saves you hours and makes life easier!
Cons: Teases you with the 'trial' version. They don't tell you in the end that it is free forever for personal use. So, just get it.
Has annoying pop up at start that tells you it is a trial.

Version: SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 2.5.1006.38
"Simple to use yet loaded with features"
Pros: I love the ability to add or delete the columns of information I want to see in the remote or local browser views. I like the power of the program, and the ease with which I can set up a new connection profile (it automatically stores them the first time you set them up). I find myself choosing this program over the other one I have had for years - it just works better.
Cons: I got just a little confused about whether I'd really closed the FTP connection when I closed the remote browser window.. Everything else was so clear, I thought this would be consistent. But it's not a major issue - it just took a little figuring to understand how the program actually works.

Version: SmartFTP Client (32-bit) 2.5.1006.38
"This is an extremely useful and user friendly program"
Pros: I like the fact that you can drag and drop from your own folders and files to the remote host. Everything appears intuitive.
And it's free for private use, I'd probably be prepared to pay if required..
Cons: Very minor concern: there seem to be too many minor updates
