Use this audio file splitter, which is designed to take mp3 files and cut them into either a set number of files or files of a set duration. Slice can also detect a specified amount of silence and split the file at these points. This is useful where you have many songs in one mp3 (for example an entire CD in one file) and need to split them up into individual tracks. Version 2 has various bug fixes and internal upgrade to new code library.

"Slice Audio gets the job done"

Pros
Good interface. Splits MP3's as loss-less (same quality as source file) and re-encode mode (supporting variable bitrate and fixed bitrate.) The software has a vary customizable output name set up.
Cons
MP3 Track # output did not work, that is the software did not edit the track# field in the output file. The field was left blank.
Summary
Overall I recommend this software for anyone who has those long audio files and would like to split them into smaller files for any reason.

Very easy to use when splitting an audiofile with long duration into shorter ones. Also very flexible auto file naming options.

Does not allow you to select a time range inside the song. You can't select 1:03 mark to say 1:45 mark or anything.

Works as expected if you simply want to cut an audio file into to equal duration segments. Very fast.

Easy intuitive interface your grandma could figure out. I was ripping my first mp3 within 10 seconds.

Summary
Select the file you want to split, in my case a two hour mp3 lecture, and you can rip it into multiple mp3 files by the number of files you want to end up with, duration of files you wish to end up with, or have it automatically slice a recording up by detecting pauses between tracks.

Loads without re-encoding so is fast.
Splits mp3 files by user selectable equal parts, or duration, or by silence.
I only tried the equal parts method and it works well.
Allows batch splitting of multiple mp3 files.Cons
Adds a "part 1 of x" suffix to split file names which is too long.
Summary
Adding a -01, and -02, etc to the split file names would be sufficient and would allow the full name to fit name on small mp3 player displays. Allowing the user to select various suffixes like "part 1 of x" or "-01" or "-a" would be ideal. -- But I like
