Despite its name, this gorgeous screensaver reminds us more of the sea bottom than of an aquarium. Sim Aquariam Free Tank gives you quite a few configuration options, letting you add bubbles, change the frame rate, show the water surface, or add your own music. However, we really enjoyed the default bubbling-water sound, which adds great ambience. Though we were impressed with the realistic, high-quality graphics, we wish there were even more to look at. As it is, only a few fish swim across the screen at any given time in this free version, though if you pay you get a bunch more. In general, this is one of the better-looking aquarium screensavers we've seen, making it ideal for just about anyone.Publisher's description

Version: Sim Aquarium Free Tank 2.32
"At Long Last A Realistic Aquarium"
Pros: After years of waiting I have at last found an aquarium that is realistic enough to want as a screensaver and unlike others who have wtitten reviews, I had no problem with the download.
Unlike other screensavers I have seen where the fish look as if they are two dimensional photographs, the graphics in this product are wonderful, the water chrystal clear, the surface shimmering, and the fish move their bodies as would real fish in a home aquarium.
I recommend this screensaver highly to those who have a knowledge of home aquariums and to those who just want to enjoy the color and the tranquility of tropical fish.
Cons: I rarely give any product a 5 star review. With this product I would have liked to see like types of fish school more.
I would also have liked to see more dimension in the tank. For example, the fish never swim to the back of the tank or behind the coral and rocks as real fish would do.
These points are minor, however, in the overall performance of this screensaver.

"Locked-up while I wasn't looking"
Pros: The bubble sounds are relaxing to hear even when the image is gone. I give it five stars for the graphics and the effect it has on one's mood.
Cons: First:I left programs running while I did other business and when I returned the mouse was locked and I could not save what I was working on. This screensaver kept right on running as I did all I could to rescue 2 hrs. of writing. Had to reboot just to stop it. Save and close before letting it run. Second: though the free tank is all anyone would really need, the cost to add other tanks and fish seems rather stiff at up to $60.00 for the whole deal. You can get a couple of decent games for that price. Because of that I give it One star for ruining my work

Pros: Very nice layout inside tanks 3 and 4, Fish look real, Many screen resolutions possible, Many options for color-light-and sound. There are alot of good things to put here - Worth the download to try it out! Don't forget to press F1 for the tank options inside.
Cons: Tanks 1 and 2 are ugly only because of the backgrounds behind the coral to me , Fish move around a little slow and when taking turns sometimes turn to the back of the tank making them look fake because they can't go further than the front of the coral (fixing this would get a "STRONG" 5 stars from me and many others)

"Really dangerous for at least one of my computers..."
Pros: It has nice graphics but...
Cons: I left this screen saver running for 5 minutes and when I returned all I have to do is to reset my computer. Everything I was working on was gone... In order to make sure the screen saver is the cause of that system crush I have started the screen saver again. After some minutes, that computer running Windows 2000 with a GeForce 4 graphic card was freezed again (Esc, Alt-Tab, Ctr-Alt-Del does nothing). I have to mention that the computer I have tested the screen saver on is pretty stable. This is the only recorded crush in the last 2 months. I give it another chance and I have updated the graphic card driver. Still having the same problem...
