CNET Editors' review
Screen-capture utilities are ubiquitous, with an ever-growing number of alternatives to the built-in Windows capabilities. ScreenShot is yet another entry in this wide field of competitors. Although there's nothing about this program that particularly impressed us, it's not a bad choice if you need a basic screen-capture tool. Its unique interface may appeal to those who like their programs to be extremely straightforward.
ScreenShot consists of a resizable window with seven buttons across the top. The window itself is transparent, and you simply move and resize it to select the desired area of your screen. Once it's where you want it, click the Capture button; the window will hold the image of whatever was displayed at the time. There are also options to refresh, copy, and save images, and a clone feature lets you run multiple instances of ScreenShot. The program has no Help file, but this isn't a significant drawback, as its features are fairly easy to figure out. Overall, we thought that ScreenShot was an interesting take on the typical screen-capture utility format; we liked it that all of the program's features were contained within one easy-to-navigate interface, and it's useful to be able to refresh the capture and run multiple instances of the program if you need to capture ongoing changes on your screen. ScreenShot isn't as full-featured as some other screen-capture tools we've seen, but if you're looking for the basics, it's not a bad choice.
ScreenShot installs a desktop icon without asking but uninstalls cleanly.
Publisher's Description
From Michael Fontana:
Capture a certain location on the desktop, move the captured picture to a different location and click a Refresh button, which will refresh from the previous location of the window. You can also copy the captured picture directly to your clipboard for future use or save it to disk with a click of a button.
The application is Ad and Spyware free. Please use the donate button in the application to keep it this way.
