"Game very Fun to play and play with friends"

    January 18, 2009   |   By Moltra

    Version: Saga MMO RTS 1.45

    Pros

The Developers work closely with the player base to make this game better

    Cons

being a small independent studio sometimes show, but this game gets better all the time.

    Summary

I have been playing this game since Beta and I love to play it. It allows you to create your nation, how your city layout looks, how your troops look and allows you to develop your units so you can battle in the style that you like,

"A great free game, sort of like WoW with armies."

    November 24, 2008   |   By frankamaphony

    Version: Saga - MMO RTS - 1.42.2

    Pros

It's excellent. For a free to play realtime strategy game, with persistent empire building (you have your own online kingdom), what more could you want in an RTS. I can't believe the big game studios aren't all doing this with realtime strategy.

    Cons

Specs are too high, if you don't have a decent machine it lags a bit in big battles.

"Just stay away, worst MMO i've tried"

    November 16, 2008   |   By Karahandras

    Version: Saga - MMO RTS - 1.42.2

    Pros

There is a free client (but you won't get anywhere using it)

    Cons

    Basically one long bug
Company does anything they can to make you pay as much as you can(free quickly becomes $50-100 per army)
Are prepared to add caps and delete player resources without telling them
    Quests can be ridiculously hard
    Low lvl ganking

    Summary

There are starting units you are meant to receive but you are unlikely to get all of them even if you pay for the client and nothing will be done to rectify this
units will rubberband, disengage from combat by themselves for no reason, jump positions(they are behind your tanks them suddenly they are infront of them), line of sight doesn't work properly, buildings can be qued to build ontop of existing buildings and stop the whole process from working,
The free client comes with some basic starter units(which you may or may not actually receive) but has other limitations(you can't use the market to buy and sell resources, units etc for example) meaning you are going to have to pay in order to actually be able to do anything as your starter units really aren't up to the job. The game itself and it's updates seem definitely geared towards making you pay as much as possible, with additional limits, changes and resources caps being added in updates. These updates also seem to be stealth updates and the most you'll get telling you they are coming is maybe 1 line somewhere in the forums. Personally followed the guides and advice by both players and company representatives to 'farm' (repeat quests to gather) a certain resource, only for a cap to be added to said resource and everything over this cap to be deleted(first I heard of this was one line at the bottom of some patch notes after patch had been implemented which said nothing of removing excess) with the jist of the response to players that complained as 'tough'(no sign of even an apology), justification of this was either high lvl players wanted it(although they said they didn't), low lvl players wanted it(they where the ones complaining so i'm guessing not ) or that it was something which was planned in beta, and since this cap meant that players really needed to pay for more units in order to proceed with the game I'll let you decide which reason you believe.
Quests can be ridiculously hard if you haven't spent an obscene amount of money on troops, even then there are still quests which will see you fight for an hour only for a single npc to appear and whipe out your entire army with eases. Leaving you with a small number of quests you have to repeat endlessly in order to level so that you can them complete quests 5-10 lvls below you.
Most of the pvp consists of attacking other players territory to steal resources and destroy/kill anything they have there with no limits on how many times this can be done, but does cost resources in order to do. So if you have the resources you can target the same player repeatedly hour after hour, day after day. In addition to this players can also steal, assassinate, sabotage etc other players again with out any limits and several low lvl players complained they where being targeted this way response again was along the lines of 'tough'.

    "Good for Price"

    August 14, 2008   |   By bdbranch

    Version: Saga - MMO RTS - 1.42.2

    Pros

It's not quite like other war/strategy games I've played. Essentially you build your home base & fight in a remote location in small quests.

Some have apparently experienced lag & other problems but I had no trouble on my 2002/03 computer and low level broadband.

Game has good depth for it's price and you can play enough even without paying the $20 upgrade. Game easy to start & graphics acceptable.

    Cons

The battles (quests) are a bit primitive. Height doesn't appear to make any difference in battles. Nice to play but missing a bit in excitement. Probably wouldn't play if it wasn't internet based.

If a company were to look at this game and decide to make their own game, Saga could rapidly be placed in the shade. It's a game good for it's price level that's all. A decent job by another company would kill it off.

"Saga is the most addictive RTS I have ever played."

    March 28, 2008   |   By fright01

    Version: Saga MMO RTS 136

    Pros

This game is very addictive. It is also the first MMORTS I have ever heard of. The community is great. The mechanics are great, and the devs work hard at fixing any exploits and address any problems people have.
