Each faction follows a separate development path through the technology tree, which unlocks military formations, economic upgrades, and nation-specific units. Naval powers focus heavily on fleets, while other nations emphasize cavalry, infantry, or specialized regional forces. Unlike many strategy games that rely on symmetrical faction design, Cossacks: European Wars assigns unique advantages and limitations that influence battlefield composition and long-term development choices.
