SWiSH Max has everything you need to create stunning fully interactive Flash animations. You can create shapes, text, buttons, movie clips, and motion paths. You can also include more than 230 ready-to-use animated effects including explode, vortex, 3D spin, and wave. You can create your own effects or make an interactive movie by adding actions to objects. A scripting language allows you to program sophisticated operations into your animations. You can preview your animation inside SWiSH Max without launching a browser or external player, and live editing lets you make changes while the animation is playing. SWiSH Max creates all the files you need to upload to your Web server, or you can generate the HTML code to paste into an existing Web page.
Version 3.0 is initial release.
What's new in this version: Version 4.0 is initial release.

Good examples and tutorials. Simple but powerful. Availability of templates online. Price.
Cons
Crashed a few times. 14 days was insufficient for trial.
Summary
I have not used Adobes product, the price is simply prohibitive.Perhaps that is the Cadillac, however I was able to produce headers and forms from scratch that looked professional and worked as I desired.

I learned Photoshop and Dreamweaver from the total beginners' to pro level within a few months - on my own, but
-this stupid software is driving me crazy;)... No real good video tutorials that would explain everything STEP-BY-STEP. They have the most boring tutorials for older version of swishmax and since they changed the software around and are using new terms to discribe its components - you have to sit there and guess what they are trying to say.... what could be leant in minutes takes hours... I think I could learn Flash by now - seriously! well at least Flash has plenty of knowledge base and templates online.
And the templates swishmax sells - are simply ugly...
*******oh,, and you CAN NOT use flash created templates.******** I just wanted to have a nice slide-show and there are plenty of beautiful templates that I could use without learning much now if they let users import them into Swish - but they don't. You must learn everything the hard way and only use their ugly templates...
So if you are a beginner and think you'll buy it and will be able to build a beautiful slide-show etc within a few weeks - You are dreaming. Be ready to learn and guess for a LONG time... -

Works with Adobe Director lingo commands because the output is pure flash...Very easy to use. I used this for 4 years and have done many websites. If you get stuck, google your problem and you will probably find your answer...

This is ok, but not very good. If you are going to make animation, use flash. It does cost a lot more, but it is way better than this. Yes flash may be harder, but it is better.
