SMTPit for Mac

Publisher's Description

From Comm-Unity Networking Systems:

  • Send email directly from FileMaker Pro to your mail server. SMTPit does not require a separate email sending application.
  • Set all the major email headers like To, From, Subject, CC, BCC, or add your own custom email headers.
  • Send any number of attachments specifying their filenames from fields in your database.
  • Break your email content into Header, Body, and Footer sections to make it easier to compose messages.
  • SMTPit supports Japanese and Central and Eastern European characters. You no longer have to fool around with AppleScripts to convert between SJIS and JIS. SMTPit does it all automatically for you. All you have to do is type your Japanese or Central and Eastern European characters into your localized version of FileMaker Pro, and send the email!
  • Advanced Connect and Disconnect functions for use with Mass Email Solutions. The Send function works as it always did, connect, send email, disconnect, if you use it by itself. However, if you use the Connect and Disconnect functions, the Send function will detect that you are already connected and will simply send the email. This makes it much more efficient for Mass Email Solutions.
  • Integrated Status Window. SMTPit has the ability to show you what it's doing as it's doing it. You no longer have to wonder if it's frozen, or if it's just sending that large attachment.
  • Full support for the OS X, with improved support for 10.3.
  • Authentication support. SMTPit allows you to log in to mail servers that require authentication before allowing you to send emails. SMTPit supports the Plain, Login, and CRAM-MD5 Authentication types.
  • Multi-tasking support for Mac OS 9. You can run FMP/SMTPit on the same machine as your mail server and be able to send email to it. (We do, however, highly recommend that you do not do this. You will get much better performance by running FMP and your mail server on two separate machines.)
  • Email Address Validation. SMTPit checks the email addresses you give it to see if they "look" like valid email addresses. If SMTPit cannot find anything that looks like a valid email address, it will return an error. This helps manage databases where users may not give a valid email address, like on a web form.
  • Support for Multipart/Alternative Text and HTML emails. You can send emails that have a Text part, an HTML part, Inline HTML Images, *and* Attachments.
  • Send and Connect functions can now take optional parameters, like bringing up a dialog if the email was sent successfully, or to return a transcript of the interaction between SMTPit and your mail server to help track down sending problems.

What's new in this version: Fixed a bug with the Password field in the Configuration Dialog on Windows. Added a check in the Send function that made sure it could open the attachments before trying to send the email. (It used to only check when it was actually sending the email, meaning that if the attachment couldn't be read, it would send the email without the attachment. The check is now just earlier in the process.) Fixed a problem on Windows where certain ISPs would include an @ symbol when setting the Host Name of... See all new features
