"Disreputable"
Version: RapidShare
Pros
Before today's policy change, downloads were relatively fast, but now there's nothing to download for most of us.
Cons
1) They basically did away with their free service as it's now unusable.
2) If you do pay, they have an insanely nonsensical and complex system which I have yet to understand
3) Rapidshare has now imposed limits on all uploaders—the public can now only download 1Gb per day for free users and 30 Gb per day for premium users. In other words, now useless to most who have spent money in good trust.Summary
As of yesterday, Rapidshare has imposed limits on all uploaders—the public can now only download 1Gb per day for free users and 30 Gb per day for premium users. After paying an exhorbitant fee and putting up with an insanely complex, totally un-user-friendly system, it is now useless to me. I'm sure I'm not alone--they just shot themselves in the foot.

"A company with no respect for their customers"
Version: RapidShare
Pros
Service used to be OK
Cons
They constantly change their plans without proper notice, and leave you worse off
Summary
For over the past year they have changed their plans at least 4 times. Never was it communicated properly. According to their terms of use you are entitled to cancel your account when the change is not of beneficial for you, but when you want to do that, they simply try to sell you more.
This company is totally unreliable with regards to their customer service, and show no respect.
I don't know for the others, but you can be sure Rapidshare will mess with you -
"IT'S A SCAM!"
Version: RapidShare
Pros
Used to be good.
Cons
Unable to download anything. You'll know you're just being given the run-around. COMPLETELY FRUSTRATING!!
Summary
Don't use this site at all. Don't listen to those who've given this a good review... they probably work for rapidshare... disgusting.Go with the other filesharing sites like sendspace or 4share.

"As a premium acc holder I find their service disgusting"
Version: RapidShare
Pros
Their webpage is a nice colour
Cons
I was using their service for a long time. I renewed my account and without warning new terms\restrictions and rates were applied to what I'd paid for. This changed a few times but frankly it just seemed too complicated and expensive. Avoid them.
Summary
Although I continued to use their services, a few days ago I renewed my account and the following day my account was unusable. I received an email from them in a foreign language saying my email address\username and password has been changed. There was a link stating that if I hadn't initiated this change, that I must click on the link to report it. I did this and sent them a message via their help section. I still have heard nothing.
I don't know how their service could possibly be worse. They're expensive, pull the rug out from under you in terms of getting what you pay for. Don't reply to requests for help.
In short, they stinkum biggum -
"Poor performance"
Version: RapidShare
Pros
Ability to share files
Cons
Performance shows poor programming, not the work of a first-class company.
Summary
After waiting to start a download, you get the message "Download expired" or something to that effect (if you don't initiate the download immediately). Then it tells you you have to wait more because you have already downloaded two files even though the previous download did not work. If I needed to share files, I would select a site that exhibited a bit more professionalism in designing its features.

"very bad, Inappropriate and expensive"
Version: RapidShare

2. The new plans is always the worst.
3. Price is still expensive. -
"Free service almost UNUSABLE. Deceptive site. Avoid."
Version: RapidShare
Pros
--- No.---
Cons
They don't follow their own policies for the free service.
After a few downloads (of 200 MB sized files) they deny you service. Even after ridiculously long wait time. See below.Summary
A deceptive company with service that FAILS.
Their web page clearly states that free users must wait 15 min. between downloads, but after two downloads, they make you wait 55 min. And THEN, they cut you off completely with the message "Stop Flooding Our Servers." Really? Flooding you?--Five files of 200 MB size in a day?
Why would you pay a cent to a company that is so Deceptive and/or Incompetent that they cannot follow their own posted procedures? Not a reliable company. (Only the U.S. continues to use rapidshare much. C'mon U.S.A. - - Forget this turkey.)
Their new interface/web site design is offensive. They use phrases like "Waiting Sucks" to describe the experience they put you through. It's insulting and trashy. And it shows what they think of their customers.
Avoid. -

"Excruciatingly frustrating. Why keep uploading to it?"
Version: RapidShare
Pros
Unfortunately often the only option for less common, older files due to its overblown popularity.
Cons
Files inaccessible most of the time
Files subdivided in aggravatingly small chunks
Extra long waiting times
Very low hourly download limit
Very small file size limit
Very slow downloads of 50KBPS
Interrupted download cannot be resumedSummary
Why do people insist uploading to such a frustrating filesharing service?
Rapidshare is impossibly frustrating to use. I just cannot understand why people still insist uploadfing files to this service when Megaupload is so much better in every way.
I have been using rapidshare for many years but in the past year or so, it has become impossibly frustrating as downloads aren't accessible at all during most of the day, waiting times have become longer and, when finally, available, extra waiting times are imposed upon free users, not to mention the throttled download speeds, typically around 50KBPS and files are broken up in small chunks making the process even more aggravating.
Compare that to Megaupload. Files are usually available as single downloads. Megaupload is ALWAYS accessible, at all times of the day and night. The waiting time is an even 45 seconds, and if the download interrupts for one reason or another, it can be resumed and download speeds are typically around 250KBPS, a typical 700MB file downlods in a single shot in 45 minutes or less, whereas it is typically broken up 7 files on rapidshare and takes a good 4 hours to download.
So what gives? What's the incentive for uploders to keep using such as loser as rapidshare? Does rapidshre pay uploaders to put stuff on their servers? What's the deal?
Sorry uploaders, but if you DON'T want files to be downloaded, keep uploading to frustrateshare. If however you want traffic, there is simply nothing better than megaupload.
