As computers become more powerful, slide-show-style screensavers are giving way to full-motion video and animation. RAM-Shock Video Screensaver follows in that line, allowing a user to create a screensaver that draws from the video stored on a computer's hard disk. Several video files can be used in the same screensaver, with the video display window floating across the screen while it operates. However, several drawbacks make us reluctant to recommend the software. A screensaver can't be saved, and a user has to go through the same process every time it is changed. The program's amateurish interface opens slowly, and must be reopened every time a user switches applications. On the whole, we felt the software's flaws outweighed its undeniable appeal.

The RAM-Shock Video Screensaver makes transitioning picture screensavers obsolete. It displays your favorite computer videos during periods of inactivity or when previewed, in a wide variety of file formats in five different floating or non-floating screen sizes, plus full screen. This video screen saver will display MPEG1, AVI, and several other formats. It has the ability to search your hard drive for video files at the click of a button.

Create a play list for displaying videos in sequential or random order. It is a 'memory-clean' program and will never lock up your computer, no matter how many times it is previewed or launched by the operating system. This is the best video screen saver available anywhere for Windows XP, 2000, 98, ME, NT 4.0 (with at least Service Pack 3) and 95 (95 with Service Pack 1). Version 3.0.30 has been modified to allow 30 days trial instead of 7 days.
