When you need to paste text, the whole text, and nothing but the text, turn to this modestly appointed clipboard app. With a default hot key combination of WINDOWS V, PureText pastes plain, stripped-down, unformatted text from the source document to its destination quickly and without fuss.
It's hardly what one would call feature-rich, but this freeware offering doesn't need to be. It worked equally well on Vista and XP in our tests, and pasted flawlessly from Web documents. It would be nice if PureText had an optional desktop icon and was listed in the program menu; unless you've selected to run PureText on startup, you'll need to run the EXE to launch the app anew.
Publisher's description
From Steve Miller :Have you ever copied some text from a web page or a document and then wanted to paste it as simple text into another application without getting all the formatting from the original source? PureText makes this simple by adding a new Windows hot-key (default is WINDOWS+V) that allows you to paste unformatted text to any application.
Version 2.0 adds Vista support, a new default hot key combo, optional sound, and various other visual enhancements and bug fixes.

Version: PureText 2.0
Pros: Pretty small memory footprint (using about 2MB at the moment), super-simple, does what it claims, portable (no install), and can be used with Ditto, my preferred clipboard manager
-
Version: PureText 2.0
"Puretext works fine and is very helpful"
Pros: Puretext is very useful to remove formatting that is stored in the clipboard with the text from many programs. One click and the formatting is gone allowing the text to be pasted into other programs without taking the font size and other formatting with it.

Version: PureText 2.0
"This functionality should be built into Windows!"
Pros: Just what the doctor ordered for those of us who are continually copying and pasting between different applications, each with its own formatting. This code (or something like it) should be built into Windows and be supported by every single application that runs on it!
Cons: I would have preferred the option to include in the Start Menu, a Desktop Shortcut, Quick Launch or a System Tray Icon. In my case, the System Tray is far to full already.

"working excellent on my wondows XP based laptop."
Pros: very simple, needs just a click to activate it before pasting the heavily formated "cuts" taken from the web.
Cons: it would be better if it could install and work within the word processor (MS Word. but still its very nice, I am very happy that some body is distributing it free. very many thanks to him
