This add-on for PowerPoint not only includes a wide variety of preset photo effects and animations but also enables you to combine and significantly adjust them. PowerPlugs: PhotoActive FX includes such effects as distortions, frames, perspective, text on background, animated text over image, and text transitions. We found the interface handy with its categorization of effects, immediate preview, and time line for animations. The only disadvantage is the absence of a zoom-out button. As for creative capabilities, the transformations in PhotoActive are a combination of layered lenses and instructions so that you can greatly vary existing effects. The animation work flow allows you to set intervals between specified frames, and every frame can be edited as a simple image. The program saves the result as an AVI file. This add-on is a cheaper alternative to full-blown graphics packages if you just want to make your presentations more vivid in a matter of minutes.
