Publisher's Description
From PolderbitS Software:
PolderbitS Sound Recorder and Editor helps you transfer tapes, LPs, video, live performances, Internet radio, TV, DVD, or any other sound source quickly and easily to your hard drive. This download is fully functional and has no limitations on recording-time length. The software helps protect your valuable recordings and is easy to use--just set the sound source, the recording quality, and volume, then start recording. The Editor automatically splits your wave recording into multiple tracks, and you can trim the start and end of each track or use fade-in and fade-out functions. You can save recordings in WAV or MPEG (MP3) media formats, then use your standard CD-burner software to burn your recordings to CD. This new version includes a built-in MP3 and MP3Pro codec (no external codec required) and DVD and SACD recording quality (48KHz). MP3Pro delivers improved compression and enhanced sound quality when played back on an MP3Pro device. Ready for Windows XP Sercice Pack 2.

"Pure Trtash... and ten stars too many"
Version: PolderbitS Sound Recorder and Editor 8.0

What is the point of spending time editing a file that you will not be able to save after the editing is done?Cons
When you try to save your finished product the program says, "Please select the desired sound quality". There is nowhere to go beyond this point, and the "Help" files are no help at all.

"Used to be great...but now.... :-("
Version: PolderbitS Sound Recorder and Editor 7.0 build 107
Pros
Allows you to record and edit music
Cons
This newest version uses a "driver" that interferes with your other audio outputs.
Summary
I have been using Polderbits for years now and have a lifelong license. However, after build 6.0 (I think), someone thought it would be a good idea to install a "driver that basically acts like a virtual sound card" <-- their words, not mine. Prior to this, polderbits was a simple program that allowed you to simply record anything that came from your speakers, without actually interfering with the sound card or computer itself. Then they added an equalizer, which was a good idea, so that you could modify your output. But this latest "driver" now interferes with your computer's audio setup, and it is a real pain in the ass that requires you to change your set up repeatedly. For example, I use Skype, MSN messener, and I have a Logitech Quick cam set up on my computer. Polderbits now changes the settings so that you have to re-set up your audio after you use your quick cam and other programs. I have sent 3 letters asking if there was access to a pre-driver version of Polderbits, but I have not received an answer from the good folks over in the Needlelands. So I have uninstalled it and now I am looking for a new recording program for internet broadcasts. Its unfortunate because Polderbits was a pretty good program that did its job well in the past......emphasis on the "was" and "past".
