CNET Editors' review
Downloading videos, Flash games, and large batches of files is greatly simplified with this freeware download manager, but Firefox users may have difficulty with integration.
Orbit's primary interface is bland, but the basic toolbar and info boxes guarantee everything is easy to find. Orbit shines with Internet Explorer integration. To get a media file, simply right-click a video or photo and choose Download from your context menu. Grabbing a Flash game is even easier. Hover over a Flash file, and Orbit displays a button for a fast download.
Fast and small are key traits of this application. It uses a bare minimum of memory, and downloads are much faster than with a browser alone. Where Orbit shines is its one-button simplicity for downloading multiple files on a site. From there, you can easily filter for file type. Orbit's numerous configuration options make it one of the more flexible download managers available.
Although designed to integrate with the IE, Firefox, Opera and Maxthon, we had great difficulty getting Orbit to work seamlessly with Firefox. We finally gave up trying to get the Flash download feature to work. Nevertheless, anyone downloading large numbers of files will find this freeware indispensable.

"Crapware, don't get it."
Version: Orbit Downloader 4.1.1.1
Pros
- It's still less terrible than what the Nazis did to the Jews.
Cons
- Doesn't work with Chrome.
- Doesn't work with IE. (At least for me)
- Questionable features. (The first thing this bugger does is scanning for updates for all your software ... why should a download-manager do that ? Hell, scan my f****ng HDD while your at it)
- Incomprehensible GUI.
- Is a ***** to remove. Uninstaller does not remove the Chrome Plug-In, which makes Chrome unable to download files.Summary
Considering the rather good average rating and some dubious reviews, this whole thing seems really shady. Just get a Chrome-Extension, it'll save you unnecessary trouble.

"Junk Software"
Version: Orbit Downloader 4.1.1.1
Pros
No pros at all
Cons
I can't get it to work. Help files don't help.
Summary
I'm going to try Replay as an alternative.

"A nasty piece of work"
Version: Orbit Downloader 4.1.1.1
Pros
All I can think of is that it's free, but then so is dog faeces.
Cons
A weaselly little creature that insinuates itself into your system. I concur that it doesn't work with Chrome. Difficult to get rid of: when you want to download something, Orbit automatically grabs it and fails to download. You will get the message 'Download transferred to Orbit Downloader. Click 'Previous' to go back and keep browsing.' And nothing else happens. To get rid of the beast on Windows 7, you need to go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Google\Chrome\Applications\Plugins. You will find there the file nporbit.dll. Not easy to delete: you may get the message 'program in use'. I blasted it with AVG Shredder.
Summary
Buggy and useless, certainly with Chrome. Don't download.

Pros
Add multibugs like different search enfgines and makes you crazy. Plus never worked properly. No download at all. Should be removed from download.com.
Cons

"OK now three reviews"
Version: Orbit Downloader 4.1.1.1
Pros
I like orbit and have used orbit stuff before
Cons
It DOES NOT support Google Chrome?? Are you nuts? You support netscape and not Chrome. Something is fishy with three reviews and 26K downloads. Do these guys have a robot downloader program running? Just saying
Summary
giving it a miss. No download from me

"Strange, and extremely disappointing."
Version: Orbit Downloader 4.1.1.1
Pros
It's absolutely free!
Cons
Doesn't work like it used to, and new versions keep being released every few days.
Summary
I find it baffling that this application has been downloaded 26,000 times this week, and yet, it has only one single written review. Also let me state that I am reviewing version 4.1.1.0, AS VERSION 4.1.1.1 IS NOT AVAILABLE. I tried downloading the new version using the Cnet installer, I tried the direct link, I tried downloading using the help menu in the application, and I also tried downloading from brother soft. The new version is not available.
This program used to be great, but for some reason it's not working the way it used to. New versions are released every few days and each new version claims to fix the two main bugs, without results. The first problem is when downloading you tube videos you will get the 1.7 MB bug. The SIMPLE SOLUTION to that problem is to change resolution on the you tube video. The second problem is the application crashing, it crashes for me almost every time I open the program and I know of no solution to this problem.
I have not given up on this program yet, and I am patiently waiting for it to finally be fixed. -
"It works great"
Version: Orbit Downloader 4.1.1.1
Pros
I use it for a backend, consistent downloader across Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and IE. Grab++ works on most streaming websites. Obviously, it's not going to break security protocols, but for open streams, it's a great Package.
Cons
None against, for me.
Summary
Those who find it too complicated or don't like the easily opt-out installs that pays cnet's bills should really consider a simpler way to enjoy themselves, like Play Doh. Configuration is simple. It allows you to organize your web downloads, even with a variety of web browsers. It can even track your system software and recommend/grab your updates for you. It's a great catch-all for those who would use it.
