Downloading videos, Flash games, and large batches of files is greatly simplified with this freeware download manager, but Firefox users may have difficulty with integration.
Orbit's primary interface is bland, but the basic toolbar and info boxes guarantee everything is easy to find. Orbit shines with Internet Explorer integration. To get a media file, simply right-click a video or photo and choose Download from your context menu. Grabbing a Flash game is even easier. Hover over a Flash file, and Orbit displays a button for a fast download.
Fast and small are key traits of this application. It uses a bare minimum of memory, and downloads are much faster than with a browser alone. Where Orbit shines is its one-button simplicity for downloading multiple files on a site. From there, you can easily filter for file type. Orbit's numerous configuration options make it one of the more flexible download managers available.
Although designed to integrate with the IE, Firefox, Opera and Maxthon, we had great difficulty getting Orbit to work seamlessly with Firefox. We finally gave up trying to get the Flash download feature to work. Nevertheless, anyone downloading large numbers of files will find this freeware indispensable.

Easy to use,crisp and clear downloads

Some sites block this and your download is scrambled when you play it.--Spend your time downloading and find out it was a scrambled transmission since it was detected by site.

tried a few video downloads this was the only one that worked with all video sites I went to.

the pop up icon on the video window dose not stay up long have to move mouse around to get it to pop back up again

Like a comment from March 29, 2010, I also received a threat alert from AVG as follows: C:\Program Files\Oribitdownloader\orbitnet.exe. Threat: Trojan horse Generic 17 AENX. Process ID: 2312.
Summary
I received the threat alert when I attempted to start Orbit and I reloaded yet another version of it and shortly there after there were several trojans and an eventual computer virus placed on my machine. I notified the Orbit people of the AVG warning via email and they never replied.

"Also hijacked my browser and lost my tabs"

Did not find any yet, due to spending over an hour recovering from the issues found.
Cons
It does not give any warning that it will reset your browser to it's homepage and change the default to not save your open tabs when you close. Restarting your browser will wipe out your tab history and just opens their homepage.
Summary
The install had selections to indicate what options you wanted, but apparently not enough. It reset my browser to open to it's homepage. It restarted my browser and all I saw was their homepage, instead of the tab collection I had been using and growing for over a year.
If you value the tabs that you open when you restart your browser (or when it crashes), then this software will cause issues. I wound up installing a deleted file recovery program, spending money, and the recovered file of the old tabs could not be recovered with it's content. All tabs lost. -

er,, took control of my browser.
Summary
I had Orbit for a year or so; worked ok. The most recent upgrade hijacked my browser and has set its self so I can't change my home page. I don't know what else it has done, but now I don't trust anything in my computer any longer. Nor can I find help for getting rid of the hijack!.. Stay away from this, it will be only a matter of time until they get to you!!!

This product is great for quick downloads.
Cons
Full function only with I.E., conflicts with Kaspersky I.S. Great program, but disappointed that so many updates have neglected to "fix" the problem with other browsers.
Summary
This program is great if you use I.E. and your anti-virus software doesn't "sandbox". Don't expect full function if using other browsers.
