"Am I doing something wrong with this program?"

November 16, 2008  |  By Bluehazel

 |  Version: Orbit Downloader 2.1.6

Pros

I wish I could write something positive to say about this program. I simply cannot find much good to say about it. I have downloaded it 3 times now. Each time after a new reinstallation of my pc. I'm on dial-up. I wish to use it but performs badly.

Cons

it's very agressive even when I don't want it to be like, oh let's say, starting in my configuration startup entry even when I wish to have all programs started up manually at my command.

Summary

This program is issuing my system commands without my permission. It is not user-friendly by any means. A good download manger will notice the user has encountered a download and snap it on the fly without any problems whatsoever. It connects at very slow speeds. I did a regular download comapred to Orbit, and my standard dial up download was faster. The connection breaks often, though I am still connected to my ISP. All my programs running aren't having any problems while online, why is this one? I gave it full permission through my Zone Alarm firewall. Perhaps thats the problem? I need a really good download manger, I cannot afford High Speed Internet. Faster downloads are crucial to me. Orbit is getting these good ratings and I don't understand it. What am I doing wrong? A good download manager will notice the systems settings and configure itself up accordingly to be userfriendly and work compatibly alongside with internet downloads. I am using IE6 SP4 on Windows XP Home Edition. I am running Spybot S&D and ESET NOD32 Antivirus Program alongside. I am also running Windows Defender andLAvasoft Ad Aware from desktop. No infections have been detected in my OS. I have had this problem everytime I attempt to use Orbit Downloader. Can someone please help me out - bluehazel@netzero.com

August 27, 2007  |  By RADicaLSatDude

 |  Version: Orbit Downloader 2.1.6

Pros

1. Can grab flash vidoes from any site whatsoever.

2. Fast Transfer speeds.

3. Metalinks and anon p2p speeds transfers even more at times.

4. Mouse over icon in system tray shows transfers names and speeds in baloon tips.

Cons

1. No Podcatching RSS feature like GetRight to download audio and video podcasts.

2. Transfers can't be dragged up or down to change priority, have to right click etc.

3. No quick speed toggle button on main window like Free Download Manager.

4. 'Grab Flash' button, hidden in drop down menu and not on main window for quick access.
