Orbit Downloader is a great speed, super light, easy to use/config, feature-rich and free download manager. It integrates seamlessly into IE and FireFox. It supports HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/RTSP/MMS/Metalink and can resume broken downloads. Using Orbit Downloader, you can also download flash games online, download videos from Youtube, Google, MetaCafe, Myspace and DailyMotion and download files from most of file-sharing service websites like RapidShare.

Version 2.0.1 adds option to amend file extension when completed.

Downloading videos, Flash games, and large batches of files is greatly simplified with this freeware download manager, but Firefox 2 users may have difficulty with integration.

Orbit's primary interface is bland, but the basic toolbar and info boxes guarantee everything is easy to find. Orbit shines with Internet Explorer integration. To get a media file, simply right-click a video or photo and choose Download from your context menu. Grabbing a Flash game is even easier. Hover over a Flash file, and Orbit displays a button for a fast download.

Fast and small are key traits of this application. It uses a bare minimum of memory, and downloads are much faster than with a browser alone. Where Orbit shines is its one-button simplicity for downloading multiple files on a site. From there, you can easily filter for file type. Orbit's numerous configuration options make it one of the more flexible download managers available.

Although designed to integrate with the IE, Firefox, Opera and Maxthon, we had great difficulty getting Orbit to work seamlessly with Firefox. We finally gave up trying to get the Flash download feature to work. Nevertheless, anyone downloading large numbers of files will find this freeware indispensable.

  Pros: It automaqtically shows up everytime I want to download a file and gives me yhe choice of using it or the browser to download the file. I like that.

  "Not comfortable with privacy policy"

  Pros: Description sounded promising but I canceled the installation due to the privacy policy.

  Cons: I was not comfortable with the privacy policy so I canceled the installation.

  Although "You do not need to provide any personal information in order to download and use the Orbit Downloader", it associates a unique number with your copy of the application and sends this number along with the URLs you download and the page you download from (referrer).

  See if this is okay with you before you use it.

  Excerpts from the privacy policy:-

  "The Orbit Downloader automatically sends only standard, limited information to OrbitDownloader.com, which may be retained in Orbit Downloader's server logs.

  ...

  If you use Orbit Downloader to download files, then Orbit Downloader will send the log information and additional information, such as the URLs you download, the page you download from ...

  ...

  ... your copy of Orbit Downloader includes a unique application number. When you install Orbit Downloader, this number and a message indicating whether the installation succeeded are sent back to OrbitDownloader.com. Also, when Orbit Downloader ... downloads a file, the current version number and the unique application number are sent to OrbitDownloader.com. The unique application number is required for Orbit Downloader to work and cannot be disabled."

  "Buen gestor de descargas"

  Pros: Tenía Free Download Manager pero presentaba algunos problemas. Orbit Downloader resultó mejor programa y más fácil de manejar.

  Cons: Este programa y FDM presentan problemas de confusión al descargar de algunos sitios, te bajan cosas que no has pedido.

  "ORBIT Rich Media DownLoader - The DownLoad Manager Revolution!"

  Pros: ORBIT Rich Media DownLoader, Maybe not just your ordinary DownLoad Manager, better yet call it "The DownLoad Suite", It is a real feature rich software compared to the 5 Popular DownLoad Managers (i.e. DAP, IDM, YouTube Grabber, FlashGet, FDM).

  Recently new things are a sight to see.

  For more information check them out in their Web Page.

  And The Best Thing, it is safe and free!.

  Cons: It Has No OS Support For; Linux And Mac OS X.

  It Has A Minor Bug. (Major Bugs Are Gone!).
