Spacehog is a horizontal-scrolling shoot-'em-up game for one or two players. If you ever played Gradius on Nintendo or Project X on the Amiga, you'll know what it's about. The player gets to control a small ship in a battle against horrible odds. Luckily, the player can pick up power-ups along the way and upgrade the ship. The nature of the power-ups vary from increasing ship maneuverability to adding high-tech weapons and shields.

See if this sounds familiar. In the side-scrolling shooter Operation SpaceHog, you command a lone spacefighter fending off a massive invasion from outer space. Using the keyboard, you dodge and shoot waves of enemy spacecraft that fly in from the right. Destroyed enemies occasionally drop power-ups that boost your ship's capabilities and help even the odds. Bor-ing. But we could have lived with Operation SpaceHog's hackneyed gameplay if it weren't for the low-res graphics that would embarrass a Sega Genesis. The only halfway-interesting feature is the initial choice of pilot, each with different strengths, weaknesses, and special attacks. We have nothing against old-school shoot-'em-ups, but this is taking retro too far. Operation SpaceHog is free, at least, so there's no harm in downloading it. But if you're in search of a shooter, you'll find plenty of great free and cheap side-scrollers to entertain you more than this oinker ever will.

  Cons: The game started up but everything freezed/hang after 1 min...(Im using XP)

  Summary: It is a very fun, thrilling game. Graphics is good. Great story. Nice weapon.A well developed game. The only problem is the sound it have no sound while I play it. Perhaps some incompatibility on my audio.

  "not enough upgrades"

  Summary: the gameplay starts out well, but there are few upgrades to keep it interesting and the game gets harder without the fun upgrades to the normal weapons. soon it becomes too difficult to stay alive.
