"Ok to read but have to pay $3.99 to print or to PDF"

    September 23, 2014   |   By lommalinglong

    Version: iPhone Text Messages 1.2

    Pros

It works pretty well to review your texts from backup. Its simple and strait forward.
The program is very small in size.
Is only $3.99 to gain the ability to print or convert to PDF

    Cons

It is a bit slow to process the texts when you click on them.
You have to pay to print your texts and or convert to PDF
Pictures that are part of your texts appear really small and you cant enlarge.

    Summary

It works pretty well for a viewer of backup texts and is small in size, so won't take up much room to install. It is cheap, $3.99, to gain full access to all its tools and is worth it if you plan to buy it for that reason. If you just want a good viewer, "iExplorer" has a lot sleeker, faster, more robust interface with more abilities of reviewing texts with a bit bigger versions of your pictures(still can't see full size) and some other things stored in a backup in its free demo version. To gain full access to all iExlporer tools though(same tools crippled in free version of "iExlporer" as in "iPhone Text Messages") costs an enormous amount more in comparison and is a whopping $34.99, which I don't think is worth it.

"Secure, The best and nothing less"

    September 23, 2014   |   By AJNT246

Version: Avast Free Antivirus 2014 2014.9.0.2021

    Pros

Always quick to update and reliable.

    Cons

    Not really a con but...
I am a Computer Science student who writes programs and everytime it pops up saying there is a suspicious program i.e. the code I write for class.

    Summary

Anyways, Avast is one of the best antivirus software out there. It is the only one that I would highly recommend.

Version: Free XPS to PDF Converter 2.1

    Pros

This is ridiculous: it is so full with malware and crap that it created 121 malware bytes quarantine instances/ Regular uninstall with not remove it. You need to NOT download this.

"NOT FOR ANYONE TECH SAVVY ENOUGH TO WANT BACKUPS!"

    September 23, 2014   |   By E-71

Version: AVG Internet Security 2015 2015.0.5315

    Pros

Light-weight in comparison to to many alternatives.

    Cons

Since version 2013, they removed the import/export feature meaning we can no longer backup firewall/antivirus rules/settings. AVG installer clears all settings without warning!!

    Summary

AVG staff claim they're now going for a fully automated firewall -- in other words they're now targeting novice users with very low expectations.
If you want to create detailed firewall rules or specify which applications can/cannot access the internet, you'll have to painstakingly re-enter each and every rule every time you update the software (eg. from an earlier 2014 release to the latest 2014 release or from version 2014 to 2015).
No import/export feature plus the flushing of your settings on update -- I'm tempted to label their software as malicious.
I've been using AVG since the Grisoft days (v6.0) and my honest recommendation is for you to stay away from them unless you're not going to change (m)any settings.

"Good TRIAL (not free) program with Limitations."

    September 23, 2014   |   By gbruce40

    Version: Streaming Audio Recorder 3.3.4

    Pros

Records many music file types and at high quality. Easy to use (Or quick to learn). Allows limited editing, searching and can automatically add ID3 Tags or allow you to edit them, if you have the information.
A promising program (Version 3.3.4) with catches.

    Cons

    1) Free version has limitations and is not free as they claim, but a trial version, there is a difference.
    2) Three minute maximum music file length is too short for most songs.
    3) Download only one piece of music at a time.
    4) Pop up trial reminder with 5 second delay.
    5) The registered versions start at $39.95 US per Year !!! For someone that will only download occasionally, It would be better for me to buy the whole album.
    6) The trial versions three minute music length limitation makes this program unacceptable, there are programs out there that will allow longer recording.
    7) Programmers who want yearly payments, it seems the way to go, for them, not for me.

    Summary

Getting rid of the trial versions ridiculous limitations will cost you from $39.95 US per year to $99.95 US per year. For a Canadian that will be $50.00 CAD after conversion and tax. Way too expensive.
For $49.99 US they seem to throw in a streaming video recorder which on the face of it seams a reasonable deal, but I only want Audio!
In summary, not a good download.

"VIRUS! Real live thing! Not kidding!"

    September 23, 2014   |   By james121219

    Version: Screen Recorder 1.0

    Pros

None work getting your system hijacked over....

    Cons

I declined all the Adware it wanted to install, checked "no" to all the "accept conditions" boxes and it STILL installed associated adware. It would ONLY run from my administrator account.... Then I noticed I was getting all my webpages re-directed to advertizing. Went into my control panel and uninstalled all the programs it added... THEN my internet stopped working because it had my LAN using a proxy (theirs Haha :( ). I Followed the instructions in Chrome removing the proxy.. Guess What..? I can't deselect the "use proxy" button!!! Just started my virus scanner and found 6 virus threats!.. be back in a minute to see if it can fix them (........) OK.. it moved them to quarratine and is re-booting to do a boot-up scan before windows starts (fingers crossed!) .. Well I don't know what to do if this does not work. Reinstall everything??? It really dug deep into windows.
    DON' EVER GET THIS.

    Version: RadioSure 2.2.1004

    Pros

I paid for the Pro version of RadioSure. When I attempt to download and open it, my Panda Antivirus flags it as a trojan and erases it before I can install it.

    Cons

    See above.

"Excellent, does what you need it to do!"

    September 23, 2014   |   By Westcoaster50

    Version: Sync2 for Outlook 2.50.2574

    Pros

    Easy install and setup
    No glitches....so far!
Doesn't take up a lot of resources.

    Cons

If you have a lot of items to sync it can take a while not unreasonable

    Summary

Researched several products for syncing my Outlook Calender with my Google Calender. Sync2 seemed to work the best.
