This free Firefox extension blocks JavaScript from running without your permission, but NoScript doesn't allow you to stop its own devices.
After installation, NoScript adds only a small blue button marked "S" above the toolbar. To configure the program options, simply click the button to display a very conventional interface. You can dive right in, white-listing the sites you'll allow to run scripts; or set it to allow or partially allow scripts so you can make determinations as you surf. NoScript even played a WAV audio alert to notify us that scripts had been partially or completely stopped.
Among its more advanced features is the ability to forbid plug-ins from running on untrusted sites. However, you can't stop NoScript itself from running. The application doesn't give a stop option, and if you choose to uninstall it you'll have to do so via Firefox's Tools menu. But for those people who are tired of JavaScript bullying its way onto their PCs, this one is a keeper.
Publisher's description
From InformAction :NoScript provides extra protection for your Mozilla/Firefox or Flock browser: this extension allows JavaScript and Java execution only for trusted domains of your choice. This whitelist based pre-emptive script blocking approach prevents exploitation of security vulnerabilities with no loss of functionality. You can enable JavaScript/Java execution for sites you trust with a simple left-click on the NoScript status bar icon or using the context menu in pop-up statusbar.

"Good if you're patient enough"
Pros: Adds security (but not that much)
Cons: Annoying

Version: NoScript 1.1.9
Pros: Good tool against browser hijacking.
Cons: Adds overhead because the user needs to give permission to all good sites to execute Java script. Requires further development to become user friendly.

Version: NoScript 1.1.9
Pros: Really increases browser security
Cons: Takes a lot of user input at first once but you have white listed you favourite sites is ok.

Version: NoScript 1.1.9
Pros: The fact is that the XSS 'cross site script ' blocking is a good idea, but it takes a rocket-scientist to manage to get all of the permissions correct.
The good news is that the added an update to the program recently that allows you to simply 'allow all top-level' domains by default.
(Trust me, you want to do this. That's like saying it's okay for download.com, but I have to decide if 123.download.com can run scripts)
Cons: If you're not an IT person, I would say this is going to frustrate you as it blocks the most popular scripting language on the Internet (Javascript), which is usually needed for all of these interactive, or, 'Web 2.0' sites, like download.com (for example)
It also blocks Java, Silverlight (Microsoft's new interactive language for thier sites), and a host of other issue's that will have you frustrated just trying to get pages to load.
