Night Stand is a free app that makes the screen on your iPhone or iPod Touch look like a classic, late '70s/early '80s LED clock. If you keep your device plugged in or docked near your bed, this can be a fun and easy way to have a bedside clock that can also play songs from your iTunes playlists (via iPod playback). Night Stand comes with three themes (red, green, and blue), vertical and horizontal mode, and options for displaying seconds and days of the week. Battery consumption is relatively modest, but you'll want to keep your device connected to power if you run Night Stand for any significant length of time--especially if you set Night Stand to disable your device's auto-lock and display the time continuously. In terms of raw functionality, this app is only very minimally useful--but fans of its particular aesthetic will dig the retro appearance, and planned updates (including an alarm clock and more skins) will only make it better.
