This screensaver earns points for its high-quality, artsy photographs of New Orleans, but we must voice complaints about its feature set and performance. New Orleans Muse doesn't show you the typical photographs of tourists partying on Bourbon Street. Instead, you get a selection of professional images that range in subject matter from locals buying produce in a market to ferns growing on the porch of a Garden District home. The program's Settings panel led us to believe it contained a soundtrack, but even when we left the Mute box uncheceked, New Orleans Muse remained silent. We also missed other notable screensaver features, such as the ability to set the image interval and apply transition effects. Some folks also may find the three-day, dozen-image trial insufficient to decide if this application is worth buying. In spite of its flaws, folks seeking to explore a different side of New Orleans might at least try this screensaver.
