One disadvantage of digital cameras is the visible grain--or noise--that may significantly degrade image quality. Neat Image is a filtering application that mutes the multicolored spots or textured appearance created by digital photos.
It doesn't just use a bunch of blur and sharpen filters; instead, it studies the noise profile of your camera and uses a sophisticated algorithm to cancel or balance the noise of an image. You can browse the publisher's site to find noise profiles for many digital cameras and scanners. The utility draws a clear distinction between noise and details in images, and we were thoroughly impressed with its results.
Neat Image did an effective job at enhancing images without affecting quality, particularly in the deep shadows or solid-color areas of our photographs. The program is plenty fast if your PC has a good deal of RAM and processing power, but it may be a bit sluggish on older machines. Overall, Neat Image makes pictures squeaky-clean and seems like a fine addition to any digital photographer's arsenal.

Neat Image reduces the high ISO noise associated with image sensors in digital cameras and scanners, the film grain visible in scanned slides and negatives, JPEG artifacts of over-compressed images, and color banding. Version 5.9 includes unspecified updates.

Version 5.9 includes added support for CorelDraw Graphics Suite X4 / Corel Photo-PainT X4, added support for Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, improved stability of the plug-in in Paint Shop Pro 9 and higher, and other improvements.

Pros: Hate that noise in pictures under poor lighting conditions. This program has never failed me. In fact, when I upgraded to Vista I bought it again, I like it that much. This is a great product. Worth every penny!!!
Cons: I certainly didn't like that it wasn't compatible to Vista but couldn't do without it.

"Easy to use, powerful tools, excellent noise removal."
Pros: It allows you to attack the noise problem from several different avenues. It provides pre-sets as well as allowing the user to play with the sliders for the best result. It gives allows for standard and advanced modes.
Cons: i can see no con's... what it does, it does well... it is an inexpensive tool..
Summary: I like it, I use it, i recommend it... nuf said.

Pros: I am a home user and just use the basics but get great results.on the few pictures that I use it on.for a photogrpher I think this would be a great help with all the controls that the program has

Pros: Nothing at all
Cons: I loaded camera profiles but NeatImage keeps telling me I dont have any profiles. I use auto match to build a profile from the image and no matter where I put the selection box it tells me the color channels arent uniform. What a waste of time.
