The program introduces an analog of Mac OS Dock on your Desktop. MobyDock is a launch pad for any program or file. It can hold any number of items and uses magnification to clarify icons. Adding or removing an item from the dock is as easy as drag-and-drop. The program offers quite a number of customization opportunities. You can place it on any screen edge, make semi-transparent or self-hiding, change the icon size and magnification. Unfortunately, MobyDock is not extensible. There are no additional applets, only a clock and a screenshot-taking utility. Though there are more feature-packed competitors, MobyDock may be worth downloading because it is free and easy to use.Publisher's description
From MobyDock :MobyDock is a fully customizable, freeware, launchbar/taskbar program that allows you to control your applications and folders while displaying some cool mouse-over animations. It can check your POP mail account; display thumbnails for the running applications; and display pop-up menus for your favorite media player, allowing you to control it from the dock itself. It also is a functional clock and Recycle Bin. Integrated Microsoft Messenger support, a weather checker, autofocus functionality, and several other features will help you explore, interact with, and keep under control your system in a fast and accessible way.

Version: MobyDock 0.87b
"A great dockbar and free! Its not dead YET!"
Pros: Its free.
It mimics the OSX Dock Bar very well.
Has some nice features the other dock bars don't have.
Cons: Development, for all intents and purposes, has stopped. This version available on Download.com was released November 2003.
Program requires at least DirectX 9.0b.

Version: MobyDock 0.87b
Pros: It's free...
Cons: It's too power hungry and has minimalistic performance. If you want a dock, and don't want to use up a lot of resourses, Aqua Dock is a lot better than this. The zoom effect and CPU usage is better. If you want a GREAT dock and don't mind it using up some CPU, then get ObjectDock. OD is the best dock around, but Aqua Dock is light on CPU and better than Moby Dock. Of course, this is just my opinion.

Version: MobyDock 0.87b
Pros: Mobydock is very customizable. There are a lot of functions. I made mobydock look like the mac os x dock.
Cons: It crashes a lot when you first install it. However, it should stop after restarting your computer once or twice.

Version: MobyDock 0.87b
Pros: I'm running rocketdock, rkDock, and MobyDock with renamed shortcuts to keep desktop clear. You can scale this down enough to just being a toolbar, which is all I wanted. Saves memory, processing time, etc. You can individually rename text that will pop up when highlighting each icon which is GREAT for keeping track of folder links (you can also leave that field blank). Lots of customization for those who just want to clear up desktops cluttered with shortcuts, default is intensive and pretty but you can scale it back to just being an icon tray and load only when you click the mobydock shortcut. This is running on Vista, as well as the others, perfectly. You can also redirect icons and it appears there is some scripting functionality for command lines but I haven't played with that.
Cons: Rocket dock seems 'slightly' faster and is the one I use as a toolbar at boot up. You cannot simply make repeat mobydock1, mobydock2, etc directories with different short cuts and have several different docks as far as I'm aware. You cannot disable all icon labels at once but have to do them individually (you can with rocket dock).
RkDock (yzDock?) is my least favorite. There are several items you cannot remove and it seems to be the slowest to load.
You have to pay to have multiple docks up at once but it IS possible which is a very nice feature if you didn't mind spending the money. Otherwise, if you need more than one, use all three- don't have more than one load at boot, rename them to something recognizable (the shortcuts), and position them to load on different parts of the screen (right, bottom, top) so that you can have all three up at once when need be.

Version: MobyDock 0.87b
Pros: It's extremely customizable with a lot of different options to change it to your liking. I've customized my dock so that it looks like the mac docks.
Cons: It is a bit buggy at first. However, if you leave it on your computer and constantly use it, after around 2 restarts, it should start working properly.
