This application provides you with several virtual desktops for organizing your programs and operations. Microdesk places a small transparent menu above your system tray displaying the first 10 desktops created, but you can craft up to 99. Each desktop can have its own name and displays its own wallpaper, icons, and distinct password. You'll be able to access each with a predefined hot key or voice-command phrase, or right out of the menu bar. Microdesk's intuitive interface lets you modify the desktop menu settings, such as positioning, movement, display, transparency, and focus effects. The application manager conveniently allows you to drag and drop programs from one desktop to another. This handy software offers many great options and, best of all, it's free. Microdesk is perfect for anyone needing to organize a cluttered desktop or sharing a PC with a lot of people.Publisher's description

Version: Microdesk 4.1.5
Pros: -defintily 1 of the best virtual desktop managers I tried
- actually gives u 99 different desktops, doesnt just minimize the progams
Cons: -cant view all the desktops at once
-i noticed (mighthave been a coincidence) but if u right click on the taskbar and hit "show the desktop" it confuses this program and requires a restart to get everything back to normal

Version: Microdesk 4.1.5
Pros: I liked the idea and downloaded it. It sounds pretty cool but when I was installing it an Avira notification told me it has a virus. To be exact it told me it has a Trojan.
Cons: Does a virus qualifiy for something I don't like?

"Did any of the prior reviewers try to KEEP this thing?"
Pros: Seems to work OK, no major crashes, simple yet effective. Thumbs up.
Cons: Every time you load the program and/or boot, and at random intervals during operation it pops up and reminds you that you need to register your FREE version. PROBLEM, no one has been on the other end to RESPOND to the emails on the registration process for 1 month now. YOU CAN NOT REGISTER and therefore must endure endless Please register, you haven't registered, would you like to register, you need to register, to continue using this software you need to register, please register, register, register, register...
ENOUGH already! :)

"Great software but lacks documentation"
Pros: This software is near perfect!
Cons: The only problem I have with it is that it does not come with any proper documentation and I cannot figure out how to change the hotkey assignments (e.g. I use CTRL-LeftArrow very often to jump to the previous word in a text editor such as Word or notepad or even a textbox on the browser, however Microdesk assigns this to moving to the previous desktop which makes it inconvenient.

"a decent virtual displays program"
Pros: Easy to install and to get started, supports up to 99 virtual displays
Cons: 1. When having a program running in the background, it will open a new window in the active desktop, regardless of the actual desktop to which the program is assigned.
2. No user control over keyboard shortcuts
3. It requires free email registration. I tried to register a couple of times and got no reply for more than two weeks. Unregistered mode of operation is very annoying since one keeps getting a reminder every few minutes. Eventually I was fed up and uninstalled the program.
