Whether you re a poet, a rapper, or a marketing writer, there will come a time when inspiration leaves you, and this is where the McGill English Dictionary of Rhyme can help. Operating the program's somewhat drab, nonresizeable interface is a snap. You simply enter a word in the search box, and the application instantly displays rhyming terms in one of three columns. The first column is for standard, straight-up rhymes; the second is for rhyming phrases; and the third is for Roundex rhymes, or words that sound similar but don't actually rhyme. While the app's feature set is rather small, you will find a dictionary and an option for displaying all three types of rhymes in one scheme. Anyone who routinely works with words will probably want to keep this freebie around.

    "Complete!"

    by jcchong17 on July 6, 2005

Pros: Very thorough. Unlike the other rhyming programs I've tried, this one gives intelligent results. No funny words. It even suggests rhyming phrases. Perfect for writing poetry or songs. Best of all, its free!

Cons: I would have given this 5 stars, but it crashes everytime I exit the program in Win98.

"The best rhyming dictionary I have encountered!!"

by melissahart on June 9, 2005

Pros: This is the best rhyming dictionary I have encountered. It is fast, portable and extensive. It is better than most of the pay dictionaries I have evaluated and has more rhyming words. I highly recommend this product and just can?t believe it is free really.

Cons: No problems whatsoever! I love it.

    "DOWNLOAD THIS NOW!!!!!!!!"

    by dalimey1 on March 17, 2005

Pros: First of all the price, or lack thereof. People want to charge you money for this kind of thing, but you can download this, legally, for free. Someone put the word out!!!! Next, the quality. Racking your brains trying to find the right word to go with another is a thing of the past. I was blown away from the very first use, and that takes a lot to do, especially with freeware. Next, NO ADWARE OR SPYWARE!!!! It's true...nothing nasty embedds itself on your hard drive and causes annoying pop-ups or anything like that. Finally, if you're still reading this, you're wasting time that could be spent downloading this great product. Full marks from me.

    Cons: THERE AREN'T ANY!!!!!

"Someone Give this Developer an Award"

by DominiquePoet on March 4, 2005

Pros: I cannot say enough good things about this dictionary. After downloading it - I was so amazed I practically wanted to pinch myself and make sure I was not dreaming. It is by far the best rhyming dictionary I have used - and I actually bought a competitive product in the past, if you can call it competitive since this software is free. I have never seen so many rhyming words in my life! Another cool thing I like is there is box with something called ?Roundex? words. They appear to be loose rhyme alternatives to use when you cannot find a good rhyme, though lots of the words in that section do not work, it has saved my neck several times. WHOEVER WROTE THIS AND THEN DECIDED TO GIVE IT AWAY FREE NEEDS TO SERIOUSLY BE GIVEN AN AWARD. I use it all the time and it is wonderful!

"I cannot believe this is free"

by thesongwriter on February 11, 2005

Pros: This product is the equivalent of others I have seen selling for $300!!!! It has slang, phrases, and more rhymes than you know what to do with. I'm amazed. I am a songwriter that is kicking himself for not searching for this years ago, just like you will be.
