MathType is a suite of products to edit math equations and chemistry formulas in different technological setups. It works with any word processor, presentation program, page layout program, HTML-authoring tool, plus other types of software, to create equations for research papers, class materials, web pages, slide presentations, journal articles and books. Additionally, on Windows 7 and later, equations may be drawn using a touch screen or pen (or mouse) via the math input panel.

Mathtype alignment issues for matrices

Pros
A product that is ostensibly sold as a formatting capability has no "pros" if it can't align properly.
Cons
Matrices have over-extended brackets -- makes it look like there are extra blank rows. Matrix bodies are sometimes unaligned vertically with extra blank rows below the body.
Summary
This has been going on for a very long time with no attempt at fixing the problem. Version previous to the ver 6 series worked properly. Not any more.
Do not use demo, you'll lose your work

Mysteriously converted equations to pictures when demo period ran out, losing weeks of work

this is a powerful interactive equation editor that lets you to create mathematical notation for word processing, web pages and desktop publishing.

It is not compatible with all Windows version.

Efficient, useful, but expensive

Pros
Very easy to use You can edit an equation directly from Word/PPT/etc. just by double-clicking Limitless potential
Cons
Very expensive if you want to use it for more than the trial period
Summary
Spectacular for one-time use, but the price makes it a worse choice than simple alt-codes or MS Word symbols. Don't plan on having a permanent copy unless you are buying it for a business/school or have enough money to throw away on it.
