Math Educator is a basic program that allows users to practice solving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems. Although the program works fine, the uninteresting interface is unlikely to hold the attention of kids for very long.

The program's interface is very simple; there are no graphics or animations or other features that would make the program engaging to kids. The program makes a few sounds, but that's really the most interesting thing that it does. The interface consists of gray buttons on a blue background, one each for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Each type of problem has three levels of difficulty, and once one is chosen the program supplies a set of 10 problems. Users choose the correct answer for each one from four possibilities. Perhaps one of the most bothersome things about the program is the fact that very little thought was given to the answer choices for each problem, making it easy for users to select the correct answers by process of elimination. For example, the possible answers to "24 - 1" are 23, 90, 63, and 57. We saw this over and over again; the correct answer and three other choices that were blatantly wrong. We were also disappointed that the problem sets cannot contain a mixture of different operations. The program has no Help file, although its features are so limited that it isn't really needed.

Math Educator is free. The program installs and uninstalls easily. We recommend this program with reservations; it functions just fine, but there are many similar programs that are more effective and fun.
