"All you need in a downloader"
Pros: 1 uses all the bandwidh of ADSL connection.
2 can resume downloads
3 works fine after trial period is over
Cons: not sure if it uses multiple servers or not
download speed stated by software is sometimes not realistic. 33K when maximum is 30K.

Version: Mass Downloader 3.2.651 SR2
"Would be the best download manager, if only it supported mirrors..."
Pros: Multiple browser integration offered from the installation procedure makes this program usable out-of-the-box without too much hassle. The ability to set up the number of segments (called threads in this program) you want for each file to a maximum of 100 segments really makes this program shine, as other programs limited the segments to around 8-10 segments, though probably you won't need that much (personally I found that 20 segments is the best for my Cable connection).
It has a nice user interface which lets you see the download details for each file in a graphical sense called the "Download Map" which lets you know the progress of each segments, without using too much of your resources unlike some other programs I know. The addition of a dynamic drop box made this program really excels in the presentation aspect.
Cons: It doesn't support mirrors. If they could give us total control of what mirrors we want to use and how much segments we want to allocate for each mirror (i.e. you set the program to download a large movie from 3 mirrors, maybe 10 segments for the fastest mirror A and 5 segments each for the slower mirrors B and C) this program would rule over all other download managers in the Internet.
An automatic configuration which can test the speed of the user's connection and set the ideal number of segment according to that test would be also very much appreciated.
It's not free either, but for a download manager of this capability, it would be an injustice for the developers to give it for free.

Version: Mass Downloader 3.2.651 SR2
Pros: Very nice looking
Cons: 1. Does not come with it's own uninstaller, you need a secondary program to get rid of it.
2. If you try to manually get rid of it it will persist so that it interfers with what you want to download.
3. If you tell it not to download certain files IT STILL CATCHES THEM ANYWAYS, and depending on how you set it will act wacky and won't even download them.
4. It does not ask you where you want to download, it sends them to some obscure azz folder buried deep.
5. Finding where it's sending them is a pain.
5.Does not ask you wish files you want to associate it with and like I said, even if you tell it not to download any, will hook on to them anyways.
6. It starts up painfully slow unlike other managers I've tried.
A BIG AVOID.
