CNET Editors' review
Magix Slideshow Maker provides users with a fantastic tool for quickly creating a slideshow of photos and music. With a simple layout and excellent results, this is a great choice for computer users of all skill level.
The program's interface is delightfully simple thanks to the step-by-step instructions. By breaking the process down into easy steps and shepherding users through their photos and music, novice users and experts alike will get the job done quickly. If any questions arise, there is also a great Help file available. Creating a slideshow begins with choosing photos and videos in the first step. Users pull shots from their folders and can click and drag them into their preferred order. Next, users choose what style they want their slideshow to have by selecting one of the many options in the pull-down menu ranging from simple camera movement to themes like birthday and vacation. Next users pull a song from their collection of music to choose as their background. The program smartly provides a preview button and compares the song clip's length to the actual length of the slideshow. Finally, users preview the finished product before saving it. The program's best special feature is its ability to transfer the video directly to YouTube with the click of a button. Users simply click the icon after the movie is saved and they are taken to the site.
With a simple layout and quick results, this freeware program is great for slideshow makers of all skill levels.

"Not Freeware At All - Just A Trial"
Version: Magix Slideshow Maker 2.0
Pros
Quick, good slideshow, good music.
Cons
Not freeware, a highly limited trial. 70+ MB download. Doesn't save descriptions for youtube. Dishonest and unethical use of free section.
-
"Easy to use.It is a excellent application."
Version: Magix Slideshow Maker 2.0
Pros
Easy.It has few steps for getting excellent results.
Cons
Not acept all the audio formats. It has few optios for enhancing the images.
-
"Clear and friendly interface."
Version: Magix Slideshow Maker 2.0
Pros
Everything you need to create a free and simple slideshow.
Cons
Lacks the finer tweeking possibilities for individual slides.
Summary
This program will produce very good slideshows with good audio in easy-to-follow stages. Excellent for beginners. For slideshows with that extra 'wow' effect, the Magix Slideshow Maker doesn't have that extra level of choices, which most users are now demanding as standard, for example the control over individual frame-timings and delays. But all in all, a very decent freebie slideshow from Magix.

"Misleading file size info, watch out for add-on"
Version: Magix Slideshow Maker 2.0
Pros
Nothing to report here - I cancelled the installation
Cons
The file is a *lot* bigger than it says here
Summary
First, the installation process has one of those toolbar add-ons (for Amazon this time) that show up so frequently these days - but this one looked like it didn't have an opt-out. I was ready to cancel then and there, but finally discovered if I clicked "Advanced Installation" I could then un-click all the boxes under that to stop the toolbar.
Second - the file size info here is misleading. Yes, the initial file *is* 3.65 mb, but once I started the installation it started downloading another 79mb! At first I thought I was reading that wrong because it was using a comma instead of a period for the decimal point but when it estimated the download time at 10 minutes, which I know from experience is about right for that size file on my wireless connection, I decided it really was 79 megs and cancelled. I think it must just be using the European format for decimal points.
If you have something other than a wireless connection with a monthly bandwidth limit this might be worth trying, especially if you don't mind having the Amazon toolbar (or can turn it off). For me - that's too much bandwidth for something I'm not even sure is going to work for me. I'll keep looking. -
"A simple stupid program for creating a slide show"
Version: Magix Slideshow Maker 2.0
Pros
I have a older version of Photo shop Premier Elements. And while PPE
does offer many more sophisticated bells and whistles, I was intrigued and downloaded this trial version of Magix slide show maker. It is easy to use very straight forward. Puts out a good product production without much effort. For a novice I rate this as excellent. The tutorials have much to be desired. You need to play around and experiment with the settings, sometimes several times deleting the files several times before you come up with an acceptable project. Importing music can be a pain and especially melding them together leaving small gaps in the footage. Perhaps somewhere there is a toggle to accomplish this but haven't found it yet.Cons
Poor tutorial, not enough fine tuning and preview.
Summary
All in all this is a great program tool for the newby, myself included. You can put out quite a respectable project in a short amount of time.

"Product is very Good easy to follow step by step"
Version: Magix Slideshow Maker 2.0
Pros
Very easy to follow the prompts . . .
Cons
Big Con > They make you do an add-on before you can download it > Well the add which is a site plus an extra tool bar you don't need > infected my PC with something.
I just downloaded yesterday and get an email from the site they make you download that someone HACKED into their site and people might have problems.
Way to go!!!!!!!!!!! -
"Can't complain about free - does what I need"
Version: Magix Slideshow Maker 2.0
Pros
Follow the instructions and it works.
Output is very good and eminently watchable.
Can load other music if desired.
Can load into video editing programs - ideal timesaver to add interest to stills.Cons
A bit painful if you load many photos and want to re-order them - might be better re-order/-name a folder of copies before loading them into the program to save slow re-ordering woes. (f you edit heavy like me.)
No HD output.
Fixed-sized program window, no advantage gained on larger monitors.
Additional music must be in OGG format.Summary
You get what you pay for - and this was free even after registration (worked for me anyway). As I have thousands of digital stills he full version is worth considering.
