From its start as a post-Napster clone to its leading role as the quintessential Gnutella client, LimeWire has been one of the highest-profile P2P applications. The 4.0 series further ups the ante with a combination of new features, an updated interface, and better all-around performance.
On the surface, the refined and zippier Java interface houses some snazzy new icons and a few new features, including a connection-quality meter and a button matrix for zeroing in on specific file types. The search interface now sports a progress bar, and file information--such as artist and album--is more clearly displayed. The improved network performance gave us considerably more search results than previous versions and a more reliable downloading experience (for a P2P client, that is). This latest version also feels more nimble despite its inherently resource-heavy Java-based foundation. We like the What's New feature, which lists files recently added to the network. The check box to filter out adult content also is a nice touch.
The new features and overall functionality make this by far the most mature version of LimeWire to date. Despite the typical performance flaws found in all file-sharing clients, this latest version continues to offer solid performance and good looks across the board.

Publisher's description
From LimeWire :LimeWire 4.6 automatically upgrades Windows users who don't have 1.4.1 or higher to Java 1.5, which runs faster and is more visually appealing. UPnP-enabled (Universal Plug and Play) routers are detected and automatically configured for optimal performance. Version 4.6 also offers the ability to search for Creative Commons licensed files and to look up Creative Commons information if it is available on files. Licenses, once looked up, will be displayed in the library and search results. And of course, LimeWire continues its guarantee of no adware and no spyware.
LimeWire is the world's fastest P2P file-sharing application, letting users share and search for all types of computer files, including movies, pictures, games, and text documents. The application's other features include dynamic querying, the ability to preview files while downloading, advanced techniques for locating rare files, and an extremely intuitive user interface.

Version: LimeWire 4.6
"Still the best, forever the best!"
Pros: Clear, easy to understand interface; fast connections(Pro's faster than Basic - as expected), NO ADWARE/SPYWARE NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY because I scanned with Spyware Doctor, Spybot - S&D, Webroot Spy Sweeper, Ad-Aware SE&6, and Spy Cleaner Gold; and NONE WAS FOUND! I use the Pro version, and I've been using it for 3 months now.
Cons: NONE! Get LimeWire/Pro! It's the best!

Version: LimeWire 4.6
Pros: Limewire 4.6 Is The Best Around! I've Been Using Limewire For As Long As They've Been Around. It Has NO-Adware, It starts up fast, has a extensive search, downloads fast, has everything you can imagine to download, downloads fast, finds as many hosts to further speed up your download time, and It Works! I Highly Recommend This Over Kazaa, Morpheus, Twister, Bearsheare, And Everything Else!
Cons: Nothing Really. If Anything, A Video Displayer Within The Program Would Be Nice.

Version: LimeWire 4.6
Pros: LimeWire is great - it sort of reminds me of the Napster heydays. It's a great peer-to-peer file sharing program with little flaws and everybody on the network likes to share files. The good thing about LimeWire, though, is that as long as a bunch of people have the file you're downloading, you're pretty much guaranteed to get the file (even if some punks cut you off). I'd recommend LimeWire to anyone who doesn't want to pay 99 cents for a music download - which is pretty much ALL of us.
Also, I'm huge on downloading software that is FREE and Spyware/Adware free - and this program is both. It also doesn't clog up too much of your system resources, allowing you to play .mp3's, surf the net, download email, and keep track of finances in personal finance software. I usually do all at the same time and don't notice a decrease in my system performance. You really can't beat LimeWire!
Cons: I play my .mp3 files with Windows Media Player 10 (using all the standard codecs). Every once in a while, I'll download and play a music file (that hundreds of people are sharing), which cannot be read by the WM Player 10. I don't understand this, but I'm usually able to scroll down the list and find the same .mp3 that does work.
