From its start as a post-Napster clone to its leading role as the quintessential Gnutella client, LimeWire has been one of the highest-profile P2P applications. The 4.0 series further ups the ante with a combination of new features, an updated interface, and better all-around performance.
On the surface, the refined and zippier Java interface houses some snazzy new icons and a few new features, including a connection-quality meter and a button matrix for zeroing in on specific file types. The search interface now sports a progress bar, and file information--such as artist and album--is more clearly displayed. The improved network performance gave us considerably more search results than previous versions and a more reliable downloading experience (for a P2P client, that is). This latest version also feels more nimble despite its inherently resource-heavy Java-based foundation. We like the What's New feature, which lists files recently added to the network. The check box to filter out adult content also is a nice touch.
The new features and overall functionality make this by far the most mature version of LimeWire to date. Despite the typical performance flaws found in all file-sharing clients, this latest version continues to offer solid performance and good looks across the board.

Publisher's description
From LimeWire :LimeWire is the world's fastest P2P file-sharing application, letting users share and search for all types of computer files, including movies, pictures, games, and text documents. Other features include dynamic querying, the ability to preview files while downloading, advanced techniques for locating rare files, and an extremely intuitive user interface.
Version 4.2 is filled with terrific new features to make the user experience better than ever. Firewall-to-firewall transfers allow many more users to share files, greatly increasing content on the network. We've also added a Pause button for downloads and a completely new MP3 player with better performance and OGG audio file support that enhances the listening experience. iTunes integration on Windows and new file views for easier sharing make this the best file-sharing experience out there.

Version: LimeWire 4.2
Pros: It contains no adware/spyware, downloads files fastly. Has clear interface, detects corruption in downloaded file. I recently upgraded to the Pro version. It's a zillion times better, and connects to more sources. Get LimeWire now!
Cons: Doesn't connect to many users(in basic version). Has few skins available for download on site. Besides that everything's good.

Version: LimeWire 4.2
Pros: Easy to use GUI, NO Spyware or adware or Popups of any sort.
Cons: Only connects to one network if it connected to G2 or neo network im sure this would be even better, due to the fact of a lower amount of files compared to other P2P apps like Morpheus and Shareaza, this gets a 3

Version: LimeWire 4.2
"One of the best P2P file sharing networks."
Pros: Has a good interface. Quite fast downloads, and has so many features.
Cons: The program keeps asking you to buy Limewire Pro. I'm a bit worried, because of the MIAA and I don't want to get sued or something. Is there anyone that has been using this product for years and never got charged or anything like that please tell me.

Version: LimeWire 4.2
"Like Limewire? Well, so does the MPAA/RIAA!"
Pros: Limewire offers a lot of files that are hard, if not impossible to get anywhere else.
Cons: Limewire is just another Napster clone. Hammering it's users to go out and buy file sharing programs so they can share illegal files. Not only do you have to buy Limewire , but you have a HUGE risk that the MPAA will come knocking on your door. Limewire is and has always been heavily watched by the MPAA. Like KaZaA, Limewire is a waste of time. If you must download and share files try Bittorent.
