A bevy of desktop bells and whistles awaits in Konfabulator, as long as your desires are modest and your system can spare the memory. The widgets on offer are slick but simple: battery indicators, clocks, stock tickers, and newsreaders, to name just a few. The ambitious and savvy can craft custom widgets with XML and JavaScript (and the ambitious and aspiring can download an extensive manual on the developer site). Note that these gewgaws will take up to 2MB of system memory when running. For finding those small, specific enhancements you simply must have, Konfabulator is your tool.Publisher's description

"Enter the Wonderful World of Widgets!"
Pros: The setup for this program is great. It is very easy, and it comes with no spyware or adware on it. Once the program is installed, it opens up a quick tutorial that gives a basic tour of the program. The widgets are small downloads, and they are very useful. You get a lot of them by default, and you can always get more. It is totally and completely free...you don't have to buy any registration to experience the benefits of this software.
Cons: The widgets do take up a bit of memory, so if you have a slower computer, then you might want to keep that in mind. Other than that, give this wondeful software a try...it will amaze you!!!

"Konfabulator 2.1.1 is awesome!!most exciting, best thing for you& your computer"
Pros: I love Konfabulator....the best thing is the Konspose option whice runs a hidden virtual desktop which you can activate to appear transparent over your current descktop. Excellent option if you are like me, and share a desktop computer with your wife...(she hates widgets, so she finds Konfabulator a useless annoyance!, but I Love widgets and find Konfabulator the greatest thing since sliced bread, & my life is unfullfilled without it!) So the Konspose option keeps my wife happy and me! she never sees the widgets and when I want to see them I simply activate them for instant gratification. (by the way yes, we have Windows XP pro sp2 but we hate to use the 2 different user option!)
Cons: no cons,...some widgets don't work, but there is a rating guide and even if you do download just deactivate the widget and all is good. Haven't had a chance to make my own widgets but look forward to learning, I would like to make one that tracks the pollen count for allergy suffers like my wife, she likes pollen.com for info, but if I could make this info into a widget it would be awesome.
OK, OK...I have to admit I might lose interest and delete the whole program but I doubt it....

Pros: Free, Lots of features, and lots of FUN! Get all the info you want all at the same time!
Cons: If you use a lot of widgets it will take some ram.

"Most useful desktop enhancement around"
Pros: This program gets 5 stars for easy to use, functionability, and just plain cool. I am able to load up my own widgets onto my desktop; getting the weather, movie times, my own schedual, and a virtual ipod right on my desktop. Konfabulator has saved me so much time. Definately worth looking into.
Cons: I can't seem to find an option to have Konfabulator not start up on windows start up.

Pros: That's is what it is: nice, usefull and very funny (some of the widgets you can download in theirs site). My desktop is full of interesting images (some moving)of Globe, ETs, Flying Saucers, clocks and calendar!! I told my wife that they were virus!!!! She almost killed me!!! They are so funny!! Greetings from Brasilia!!
