NOT ONLY it speeds up direct downloads, somehow, this program has tweaked my internet connection that even the speed of my torrent downloads has increased at least FOURFOLD!
Cons
Too reliable that you'd likely to keep wasting your data allowance just for the sake of download!

I bought an HP m8000n desktop computer last week and I love it. But it was downloading at just under 100 kbps and it would often stop after about 10 mb and it wouldn't start again. So frustrating! I used the download manager for a 120 mb file. It downloaded at an average of about 197 kbps (up to 207 kbps) and stopped twice, but the stops were only for a few seconds and it resumed again. It also has a nice interface and options. I'm buying it!

Fastest(other accelerators-->80KBps, IDM-->100-110KBps).Ram friendly unlike DAP.Believe it or not,it saves me from those "autodownload" virus -beacause IDM filters every .exe file comming from the net,so i can refuse download those obvious viruses. Tried almost every download managers yet i still return to using IDM.
Cons
There's a bug when my pc wakes up from hibernation, the icon in thr system tray disappears...oh well it's just a small thing.
