Don't let the dull name fool you: Internet Download Manager is a full-featured package that handles downloading tasks with aplomb. It conveniently integrates into your browser, even if you use Mozilla or Opera.
It automatically sorts incoming files by file type and puts them in the appropriate folder. Most importantly, it supercharges download speeds (it doubled ours). Its windowed interface is clean and easy to understand. Power users can take advantage of the command line interface to resume file transfers, schedule downloads, connect through dial-up, or log on to password-protected sites. Experienced users also can limit the number of connections, the download speeds for specific sites, and even create an exception list to block specific, user-defined sites.
Other features include automatic virus checking and the ability to download all files linked to a page. The new version has a Web spider that can analyze a site and retrieve, for example, all the images on it.
Internet Download Manager strikes us as a natural choice for users in need of a trusty transfer tool.
Publisher's description
From Tonec :Internet Download Manager is a tool for increasing download speeds by up to 5 times, and for resuming, scheduling, and organizing downloads. The program will resume unfinished downloads due to network problems, or unexpected power outages. The program features a full-fledged site grabber that downloads files that are specified with filters, for example, all pictures from a Web site, different parts of web sites, or complete web sites for offline browsing. The program supports HTTP, HTTPS, FTP and MMS protocols. The program has an adaptive download accelerator for MP3 audio files, and MPEG video content processing. It integrates into Opera, Mozilla, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and into any application that uses FTP, or HTTP protocols.
For downloads that have been cancelled twice, Version 5.08 build 5 now shows a dialog where you may add the download address or the download site to IDM list of exceptions. Thus if IDM always takes over a download by mistake, it's easier for a user to handle download exception lists. This update includes all latest bug fixes.

Version: Internet Download Manager 5.08 build 5
Pros: Unlike most other products this one actually delivered on it promises. It is easy to use, and does a fine job of speeding up downloads. Also, with an internet connection that seems to reset every few minutes it is great to be able to resume a download.
Cons: Nothing really. Would be great if it were freeware.

Version: Internet Download Manager 5.08 build 5
Pros: Tried it once a while and I liked it from the beginning, from its first download. I have ADSL connection at home and this amazing little tool managed to increase my download speed a lot. I downloaded slightly less than 100kb/s without IDM, and now more than 400kb/s with IDM. This is really matters considering that I download large files and movies. IDM is a real time saver. It can also be programmed to postpone downloads for the night time and have everything on your desktop by the morning. You have just click a download in your Firefox and put it in the queue. And there are many other features I dont use now like site grabber. So this is a truly amazing handy tool you wont be disappointed to download.
