Don't let the dull name fool you: Internet Download Manager is a full-featured package that handles downloading tasks with aplomb. It conveniently integrates into your browser, even if you use Mozilla or Opera.
It automatically sorts incoming files by file type and puts them in the appropriate folder. Most importantly, it supercharges download speeds (it doubled ours). Its windowed interface is clean and easy to understand. Power users can take advantage of the command line interface to resume file transfers, schedule downloads, connect through dial-up, or log on to password-protected sites. Experienced users also can limit the number of connections, the download speeds for specific sites, and even create an exception list to block specific, user-defined sites.
Other features include automatic virus checking and the ability to download all files linked to a page. The new version has a Web spider that can analyze a site and retrieve, for example, all the images on it.
Internet Download Manager strikes us as a natural choice for users in need of a trusty transfer tool. Version 5.11 build 5 added FLV grabber that can be used to download videos from YouTube, Google Video, MySpaceTV, and other popular sites.
Publisher's description
From Tonec :Internet Download Manager is a tool for increasing download speeds by up to 5 times, and for resuming, scheduling, and organizing downloads. The program will resume unfinished downloads due to network problems, or unexpected power outages. The program features an adaptive download accelerator for MP3 audio files, and MPEG video content processing. It integrates into any application that uses FTP, or HTTP protocols.
Version 5.01 adds redesigned and enhanced download engine, an improved toolbar, and a full-fledged site grabber that downloads files that are specified with filters, for example, all pictures from a Web site, different parts of web sites, or complete web sites for offline browsing. The grabber has a thumbnail view to preview files on one page during downloading. It's possible to schedule grabber projects to start or stop them at a specified time, or run periodically to synchronize changes.

Version: Internet Download Manager 5.01
Pros: Through my web browser I usually download at around 300kb/s max. Through Internet Download Manager I never dropped below 650kb/s. If you're looking for a download manager that just about doubles your download speed, this is for you.
Cons: Integration into firefox failed to work. Options/settings menus are a bit cluttered.

Version: Internet Download Manager 5.01
Pros: Finally! My search has ended. It's here, and i'm glad i found it after looking for alternative download accelerator. I tried "Download Accelerator" and "Fresh UI" but they all are bloated Buggy piece of garbage applications. I am a programmer my self and know good work when i see it. This program has the most easiest interface of them all, very straight forward and best of all.. No Banners! I was downloading a file and it was kind've an emergency. It's 442 MB and theres over 400 people downloading it. It was going 15kb/sec constant using explorers built in downloader and i got 30kb/sec using both download accelerator and Fresh UI because the file was hosted on two mirrors hence 15 + 15 = 30kb/sec. This program is going 150kb/sec!!! It's the technique they use for the download process that makes this so efficient in downloading. Pat your selves on the back, not only do i appreciate this program but the time it has saved me.

Version: Internet Download Manager 5.01
Pros: I have been a registered user of the Internet Download Manager program since IDM 3.10 and I must say that this product does what it says it will do. I especially like the resume feature that will allow you to pick up the download wherever it broke for whatever reason, we all know nothing sucks more then finding out the 3 hour download that loses a connection 5 minutes before completion ( for those who are still in the stone age like me using dial up ). Great proiduct worth every penny!!

Version: Internet Download Manager 5.01
Pros: I have been using it for about 4 days now and I think it is a good download manager as well as an okay accelerator. It can piece your download into 8 different pieces so it can download them faster, pause/resume/cancel downloads, very stable, pretty easy to use, and has got a nice interface. The best I've run across so far, and i've tried alot. I Like it! I would recommend this is anyone!

Version: Internet Download Manager 5.01
"GREAT!! " DOES EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN""
Pros: This does exactly what it say. My internet download speed usually is 100-90 Kbps and some time lower (poor connection) when i used this my speed did go any lower that 130 kbps and if not faster that that, and it didn't let the speed drop.
and if the file is Like 1mb or less, it does it in 1 second literally. =)
you get great value for your money if u buy
Cons: The bad thing is that it that's up RAM when it's not being used, I recommend that you close it and when you are going to download, open it again ( you dont need to do this it you have like 1 GB RAM)
